Anti-Christmas
Whoa... look www.hauntedattractions.co.uk for proof that the English have much less trouble bring politically-correct that US yanks. Could you imagine the reaction this would get in the US?

I don't get it. All I saw was an advertisment for a haunted attraction web site. I didn't see anything that had to do with Christmas or Anti Christmas what so ever.

Ohh, it was a haunted place in England... Satan returns to the London Dungeon this December for the most heated anti-christmas grotto yet!
The London Dungeon's alternative Christmas festivities will run from 7th - 29th of December and will be included within the cost of a regular admissions ticket.

Well, that might offend a few people here in the States, but then there are also plenty of people in the States who are very much into satan and anti Christmas. For many, Christmas is not Christmas. It's Solstice, or Yule, or some other pegan feast. Not that I have anything against pegans or people who don't celebrate the Christian holiday, but it's not as uncommon as you might think.

Re: Anti-Christmas
Whatever your assumptions are, if you start lumping pagans and Satanists together, you are going to have some very unhappy people. And just because someone is anti-Christmas, doesn't mean they are pro-Satan.

Re: Anti-Christmas
SSB, I'll do you one even better. Most peagans I know don't even believe in satan. I was just comenting on the web site the original poster was talking about, and how it had a rather satanic feel to it. That does not mean that all pegans are into satanism. A satanist, incidently is actualy not a pegan. Pegans are polythsoist. They believe in the existance of more thenone diety, or at least they did in ancient times. Devil worshippers, in some cases claim to be monotheists, but the Timothy LeVeigh bunch actualy are atheists according to some of the web sites I've seen.
So please don't mistake my previous references to the pegan observances in my last post as "lumping pegans with satanists." Ni niece is a Wiccan, and I love her dearly. I don't agree with peganism, but I do respect the pegan's right to be pegan, as I would hope the pegan respects my right to be a Catholic.

Actualy there are a lot of words like that in the English language. Take the word live for instance. Those four letters, L.I.V.E. can spell three different words. Live, Evil, and Vile. Two fo thsoe words have a negative conotation, while the first of those words has a very positive conotation.
Now take a look at the two words "Santa" and "satan." Santa actualy means "Saint." It's from the Latin language, and is also still used in one form or an other in Italian and Spanish. San Francisco = Saint Francess. San Antonis = Saint Anthony. Santa Clara = Caing Clare and so forth and so on. The word "satan" means "accuser" and has nothing to do with being a saing. It's also a proper name, which you may notice I never capitolize like I do with all other proper names, because of religious reasons. So while both words contain the same three letters, they have absolutely nothing to do with each other in terms of meaning.
Santa Clause = Saint Nicholus. Saint Nicholus was a real person who loved children and was very kind to sailors. Dutch sailors told his story in Holland, and that began the tradition of leaving out shoes on St. Nicholus's Day, which in turn lead to the tradition of hanging stockings by the chimney and the whole "Santa Clause" mythology.

PM,
Did you study about Santa and Satan in school, or what? I'd like to know because you sounded like you know everything.

I learned about the saints when I attended Catholic grammer school and Catholic high school. They were alro did a pretty good job about teaching me about angels, and that included the fallen veriety. The devil is a fallen angel, who use to be an angel of light in God's Kingdom.
I also watch The History Channel and History International, and they have a lot of documenteries about Saint Nicholus at this time of the year. They also have all kinds of other great documenteries through out the rest of the year about satan, the antichrist, hell and religeon.

I really enjoy The History Channel and History International. There are other channels that are pretty good, too.
