While looking for party ideas for my daughter's birthday party, I came across Halloween Murder Mystery Party. It seemed pretty cool but I didn't know if it actually was as fun to do as it seemed. Has anyone ever done a Murder Mystery party? What about for pre teens?

They have parties like that on cruise ships. And not just on Halloween, but year round.

I've made my own before, didn't turn out so good, but if you plan on buying a set for the murder mystery party, i think it would go over well.

The party was great and the kids had the best time. The kit was purchased online, I think for around $35.00. There are a few things you have to do for the party but that is easy. I think it would be fun for adults too.

That reminds me of the game, Clue.

I loved that game and played it all the time when I was a kid.

I'd play Alfred Hitchcocks 'Music To Be Murdered By' in the background and follow up a game by watching Mystery, on public TV.

I'm sure my family thought I was pretty odd, but the feeling was mutual. 8)

My younger sister had that game. Every time, without fail, anyone played that game in our house, whether it be me, my other siblings, or my sister's friends, there was allways a huge argument where people walked away crying or ranting. One time my two older brothers were playing, got into an argument, and one of them picked up the game board and flung it the other, then he flung it back at the other, and then they started throwing the box it came inat each other, the pieces at each other, and my little sister started crying because her clue game was getting wrecked, and by the time the fight was over, my dad decided to throw the clue game in the garbage.

i bought one of those murder mystery games once and had a party, the game was meant for adults. it was time consuming and difficult. each person had a character and a script. it was lousy. nobody liked "playing" a part. nobody solved it or even had a clue as to the solution and we're talking about intelligent adults. i wouldnt recommend the store bought kind. if you could make one up, then maybe that would be fun.

I certainly will never take art in "Clue" again. I felt some what sorry for my sister because the game was one of her Christmas presents from the previous year, but then again, if something gets to be so frustrating that it causes people to throw the board and various pieces at each other, it's time to get rid of that game.

I might suggest that you contact some of the cruise ship companies. They often have cruises that are based on a murder mystery that the guests actualy work together to solve. From what I hear, they are a lot of fun. But board games are just that. BORED games IMHO.
