Good food, including but not limited to Pop Corn Balls, horror movies (classic horror i.e. vampires, wearwolvs, haunted houses, etc prefered) costumes, LOUD MUSIC when the movies are not playing, good friends, jack o'lanterns, and a HUGE BONFIRE.

I would want a bonfire & haunted hayride, lots of friends, beer, margaritta's, scary stories, and lots of food. What else could you ask for? Maybe to have a haunted theme park all to myself with my friends & family only. That would be totaly cool too.
I don't ask for much, Ha Ha!!! Witchy

In the past, we've just invited friends, supplied food, booze, and babysitters, played some horror movies, and let it go at that. However, we'd always get people who just came to eat and get snuckered. Sometimes they'd even start playing cards or some game. They obviously weren't into celebrating the holiday. This year, however, we've decided it will be different. We sent out invitations a few weeks ago. Anyone who attends must wear a costume or they're not getting in. We figured that would eliminate at least some of the people who were just there to take advantage of the food and alcohol. There will be no card playing, either. The message in the invitation was polite but clear: If you're not coming to celebrate Halloween, don't bother.

Our invitations we sent out the last time we had a party said "adults night out" and "we'll provide the main corpse you provide a side" and "costume required"....it was a lot of fun because it let them know what was going on, no kids, bring a side dish, and must have costume. Worked out good for us

Of course, you have to set the atmosphere so it has to be just right, but if you don't have the right people, no matter how great your decorations are and you've created the mood, then your party will suck. Actually, if your house is done-up right, then the party should be awesome and put everyone in the spirit. Also, I've noticed that the people who like to attend Halloween parties are fun people in the first place. Anyone who says that Halloween isn't their thing, and to each his own, they wouldn't be there in the first place.
