Really upset
I'm am really concerned about Halloween guys, I turn On TV today expecting to see loads of shows only found 3 out of 50 that's horrible. Then I come here expect to see tons of posts hardly any. Then to make matters worse, I was excited because I was expecting a lot of Trick or Treaters and that I decorated early so they knew I was handing out candy. The least I ever had was set about 4 years ago at 4, the most was in 2000 with 67. I live in a small city in Ohio. Usually the average is about 30 kids coming every year. Last year I had about 20 this year I had a whopping 2 kids. I couldn't believe it Has everyone forgotten about HALLOWEEN or whats going on. I feel like this Holiday is on the road to become like a second rate holiday. I hope not but what is going on?????

Re: Really upset
Odd there would be Trick or Treating on a Thursday, the day before Halloween. Friday being Halloween, I'd hope both TV and Trick or Treaters would be out in force. I know some communities (I'm also in Ohio) have scheduled "Trick or Treating" for Saturday afternoon .... WHAT? ... Anyway, for a non-official holiday, Halloween is by many accounts the No. 2 "event' during the year, behind Christmas.
Personally, like many other things in life now, such events/holidays are more personalized in the sense that I don't depend on TV/cable, I have my own fundamental shows to enjoy for any given holiday, especially Halloween. I made that commitment many years ago when AMC went to commercials.
Events/holidays do seem less of a group/shared experience in the 21st Century ... for better or (more likely) worse.
I also cite merchandising as a detriment to the Halloween experience: Merchandising is out at Labor Day, and during the last week of October, Halloween merchandise has been moved out at 50-percent off, so that by October 31, all you see is Christmas stuff.
Regardless, I'm a geek for Halloween and other holidays etc.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Yeah, Well the reason was we knew The High School Football Had its Home playoff game tonight on Halloween we won 56-8. Ada we was ranked 4 in the state in D6 so they wanted a good turnout for football so they had tot the night before.

That's too bad about the trick or treaters. It is always on Halloween night here. I was on vacation this past Halloween but the kids that were around went trick or treating on the ship. That was really cool.

yes hopefully this year will be better
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!
