A Serbian Film (2010)

Post by iHaunt » Wed Dec 08, 2010 11:34 pm

This movie should hit in USA anytime in 2011.... it is a very brutal, disturbing film. Beautifully shot. I, who can watch just about anything, was a little disturbed by certain scenes. All of the gore was amazng!! :D The machete s-e-x scene was so freaking awesome!! ;)

I think I'll take a pass on that one, IHaunt. Not my cup of tea.
I read about it on blood-disgusting and thought, no.

Cult-labs: Anyone with half a brain is going to watch this film and see a world of difference between A Serbian Film and the likes of Hostel and Saw. Those films are carnival rides, using torture and gore to entertain without any questions asked. When people talk about the increasing brutality of horror movies they'll unfairly lump A Serbian Film in with films that have no agenda aside from providing an endurance test for the viewer. A Serbian Film has bigger fish to fry...

Here's the trailer and a clip. The clip was chosen to show that A Serbian Film has light and shade and isn't just a rollercoaster ride of exploded taboos.

Anyway, a guy sent me a message like this:
You want to talk about extreme film watching. Forget gore. Forget taboos. And forget perceptible cuts. Watch "Wavelength".

The possibility that you're walking around without an ankle monitor is enough to worry anyone.

Try to rent and watch "The Life and Death of a Porno Gang" (2009).... Good movie, it's pretty similar to A Serbian Film. ;)

I think I'll move to a state that doesn't share a border with Virginia.
