LOL, funny you say that about PHDs not knowing how to flip a switch....When I worked out at Edwards AFB (for those that dont know what that is, it's the main test base for the air force, army, marines, etc) there are highly educated people there, people that can build a B2 bomber, test pilots that are very smart and highly trained, mathematical genius' but these guys would walk around with their shoes untied.....go figure

Welcome to my world guys...I work for a huge hospital doing phone tech support for the computers and systems in the hospital and clinics. We support the doctors, nurses, staff on computers and phones...been doing this for almost 10 years now. Now you know why I am semi-insane...doctors are the worst because they are so smug and feel you are beneath them yet they can't figure out how to turn a PC off and back on again...

8 years of Medical School and they can't figure out how to use mouse either...

Spinning fast, you've got to ride it well
The world is full of kings and queens
Who blind your eyes and steal your dreams
Its heaven and hell, oh well

You ever hear the expression: "it'snot what you know it's WHO you know" ?? I often wonder how a lot of doctors even got into medical school. My gastric bypass doctor, a brilliant surgeon by all rights, didn't know the difference between a solid state amplifier and a vaccum tube amplifier. Of course, he's not a particularly smug person, but that did strike me as funny.

My older sister, who was one disertation from obtaining her own Ph,D didn't even learn how to drive a car until she was in her mid 40s.

Go figure.

Well, since we're on the subject...
I hate trying to teach someone something that's incredibly easy to most but impossible for that one person. Trying to show my mom how to use her new smart phone was a nightmare.
I wanted to shove my grandma's head through her computer when she couldn't figure out how to turn the monitor on. (Just kidding, I love my grandma)

imagine trying to teach her over the phone...that was my daily nightmare, I could have fixed the majority of the computer issues people called in about in 5min or less but over the phone it's triple that!

Back in the 80s when VCRs were 'in vogue,' my mom couldn't even figure out how to play a video tape, much less program it for a timed recording. I allways ended up doing it for her. My older sister was just as bad if not worse. At least Mom could drive a car. Both of them hated machines, especialy electronic machines, with one notable exception. The telephone. But neither one of them was overly fond of VCRs, Lazor Vision players, or even phonographs and other audio components. Neither one of them liked to drive, but only my Mom actualy did drive on a regular basis. When TVs came out with digital tuning instead of dials, both of them had to struggle to find the chanel they wanted to watch. But both of them never had any problems with using the telephone, any telephone.

I used to work for Info NXX. It's the company that ran 411. We had people call in asking where certain businesses were located and for their phone number. Sometimes it wouldn't show up in our system for whatever reason, and they'd say "Well I'm standing right in front of it! Your system sucks!"
There were times when I got so close to saying "Well f*cking go inside and ask!"

Eventually I just decided to transfer people to clown hotlines. Literal phone numbers for clown services. I wish I coulda heard their reactions.

LOL, Castle. I would have loved to see the expression on their faces, too.
