Billy Beer

Post by iHaunt » Sat Dec 10, 2011 11:59 am

Any one know about this kind of beer? Was it out of business? I've not seen anywhere in all stores. It must be long, long time ago. :? My grandpa told me he thinks that formerly President of USA Jimmy Carter's younger brother, Billy was the owner of this Billy Beer Company.

Yes, I heard about it back during the Carter Presidency. His younger brother was something of an embarrassment to him, I think. But that brother died a long while ago, so I doubt his beer company is still around. It was kind of a novelty at the time.

My grandpa told me he hasn't seen it anywhere at the local grocery store, but some states do have them. Not so sure if his company is closed, but I did google online. It's now called Billy's Beer and Wine. Well, my grandpa said that the company was closed around 1990. But, still some other company are making that beers and wines somewhere else in some states only. I don't know.

You made me curious, so I made a quick Google search. It sounds to me as if both the beer & the company that made it (Falls City Brewery in KY) went out of business in 1978. Also, neither the full beer cans nor the empty ones are worth much of anything today, as they were mass-produced.

Oh, and Billy Carter never owned the company. They just approached him for an endorsement, and he gave it.
