I Have a Camera Again!!!

Post by jadewik » Mon Nov 26, 2012 11:47 am

Black Friday sales went in my favour this weekend-- scored a Nikon COOLPIX L310 14.1MP at Target for $99... and I ought to be able to get reimbursed $40 from insurance. Yay!!!

So excited! I'm a compulsive photo-taker/adventure-chronicler, so I've been kinda going through withdrawls since August. Wheeee!

You definitely need a camera for all the new things in your life!

Here's a challenge for you... post a picture of your new camera. Snicker.

I would rather she post a picture of snickers.

Do you plan on bringing your new camera on any 'haunted road trips?"

I was just thinking about how I'd take a photo of the camera for (future) insurance purposes... lol. I think I'll have my husband use his cellphone. I'm really going to get all crazy-detailed for the next-go-'round, since I've heard thieves like to make return visits. Bleh. Hopefully, the security features we implemented since will keep that thief out-- granted, the police have been cracking down on robberies in my area lately...

You betcha I'm planning on taking photos on haunted road-trips. I have a whole week off of work between Christmas and New Years-- perfect time to go on one such trip. I've been wanting to stay in the Jerome Grand Hotel for a while now... we were going to go there for our 5th Anniversary, before my husband's motorbike was run over... I also want to take a "Billy the Kid" trip in New Mexico. There are s'posed to be lots of haunted places associated with The Kid. Might be a while, though-- since I'll have maternity leave soon I kinda need to save some money... If I can do it for a little more than gas... then again... might take the time to do stuff around the house. =)

Our family vacationed a number of years ago (2001) in Cimarron, NM. Lots of ghost stories around there, especially at the St. James Hotel, which I believe was once featured on Haunted History. I loved that trip (really we were staying at Philmont Boy Scout Ranch). Never before or since have I felt as if I were more authentically in the Old West.

Cimarron would have to be another trip... it's in the NE of the NewMexico. If I ever go to Chaco Canyon, that'd be a good side-trip... along with the Petrified Forest, Bearizona... Four Corners... etc.

I'm lookin' for something more SW-- like Silver City... and MAYBE Lincoln... but probably not. I think we may just end up going to Steins and Silver City... and swinging 'round to Clifton, Safford and Fort Grant. Maybe swing to SE Arizona and check out Kentucky Camp... or Skeleton Canyon (which supposedly has some Apache treasure buried there)...

Lots of haunted places and ghost towns in the southwest. Plenty to see and do. It's just a matter of deciding how far and long I want to drive and planning where I'm gonna sleep. =)

That sounds great, Jadwik. I can't wait to see some of your pics. By the way, if you have a Mirror you can do a self portrait of you and the camera, but you will have to use existing light instead of a flash unit. I also recomend you use a bedroom, not a bathroom mirror. Pictures of tiolets aren't very "artistic."

But do post your 'haunted road trip' photos.

Speaking of cameras, I am thinkint in terms of a 'haunted roat trip' to some supposedly haunted places in Indiana. I have to check my finances, but I can't wait to be riding my motorcycle again. I really would love to find another creepy old place like the Bartonville Insane Asylum.

Apparently, any and all machinations I had to travel this holiday season have been crushed by my doctor-- I have pre-eclampsia, which is basically "baby poisoning"... and I've been put on medical bed rest for the duration of my pregnancy-- cuz giving birth is the only dang way to "cure" pre-eclampsia and this boy isn't due 'till Mid-March (29 weeks along, so far). I'm not really happy about that... but I s'pose being bored lazing about all day is better than having a stroke or seizure. *le sigh*

... wish I new that babies were poisonous before-hand... but that does explain why I feel so yucky all the time... and why my legs and hands look like they're transplanted from the body of a much more "sizeable" woman... Bed rest does seem to work, though-- for Christmas, I did see my ankles again (if only for a little while) for the first time in a couple months.

Goodness Jadewik, I will keep you on my prayers.
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.
