Dollar Tree Tombstone Make-Over!

Hey guys. I went to the Dollar Tree and got a couple of tombstones. Although most were exactly the same as last year, most had a better spray paint job.

There was one that I didn't get last year that I got yesterday.... one with a spider on it. However, I imagine that in the darkness (even with a spot light), seeing the detail on the tombstone would be hard. It's a very nice one, however the uniform color doesn't bring out it's composition very well.

So I decided to use a couple Sharpie markers and some acrylic paint to give it a make over.... Not bad for an hour's work!

Here it is at the start:

Double coat of white on the web to make it stand out more:

That looks fantastic! I love the paint job. Amazing how something so subtle can really make a difference.

Something else you can try with the webbing is that glow-in-the-dark (GitD) paint. I painted my dollar tree tombstones with GitD paint and the details stood out more.

They look great! I haven't heard of GitD paint.... It'll be something to experiment with for sure! Thanks!

Where did you find the glow in the dark paint?? I might try to paint some decorations this weekend and see how it looks.

What a great idea! I will definitely have to keep this in mind for the next time I break out my tombstones. :)

Wow,that is awesome! Great job with the tombstone makeover!!!
I read somewhere, (can't recall the site), someone using a (yellow) flourescent maker. They diluted the "spongie thingy" inside with a little bit of water, enough to create a paint like consistency. Applied it (on a face), on a tombstone, sealed, with of course, a sealer and it would glow in the dark!!
