Halloween Songs . . .

Post by thislazylife » Mon Oct 09, 2006 6:42 pm

Anybody have any songs/music that remind them of past Halloweens? One song that always conjures Halloween memories for me is Heart's "Magic Man." I've concluded that I must have heard it on or near Halloween as a kid, and when I hear it now it takes me straight back to Halloween in Los Angeles in the mid to late 70's. When I make Halloween mix CDs, "Magic Man" always kicks 'em off.
And, for obvious reasons, B.O.C.'s "Don't Fear The Reaper" has the same effect.
Laurie stares at the station wagon as it moves past. She looks directly at The Shape inside. There is a quick glimpse of him, a strange pale face staring back.

"Spooky"- That's my favorite song.

I have a good CD that has some songs on it that you might not think of being Halloween.....like:

"Boogie Man"- KC & The Sunshine Band

The #1 song that reminds me of Halloween is "Monster Mash"

another personal fav is "Spiders and Snakes" by Jim Stafford

The 'Witches Dance' from the Witches of Eastwick is my Halloween theme tune.

I suppose Michael Jacksons 'Thriller' brings back memories fo a couple of good Halloween parties when I was a boy
The steeples are white in the wild moonlight,
And the trees have a silver glare;
Past the chimneys high see the vampires fly,
And the harpies of upper air,
That flutter and laugh and stare.

I'm glad i'm not the only one who's crazy, but Supertramps "Logical" song IS Halloween for me also, and I'll tell you why... Back in the day, late '78 through 79' it was played all over the radio, the same time "John Carpenters Halloween" was scaring the masses. I heard it on the radio right after seeing the movie for the first time at the drive in as a kid and associated the two. Not only do the themes mesh, but the lyrics sort of descibe Michael Myers plight from his minds eye in a pseudopsychotic way. He was a normal little boy, who started hearing voices, then got possessed, murdered his sister, then was shipped off to a mental institution (to learn to be 'Logical'). Of course, we all know how well that fared.

First time I heard this song was while my girl and I were setting up our first Halloween party. Early '90s I think. Every time I hear it, I'm instantly transported back to those days.

I'm still amazed how different Freddie looks in that video. Reading the comments, seems this was not long before he died. Gives a new meaning to the song.
