no kidding
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

Adrian, I'm not a huge fan of living in a big city any more, either. I was born and raised on 111th and Polaski, but it was not "the big city" by any means. It was part of Chicago. We got Chicago police & fire, Chicago park service and Chicago water service, but the neighborhood was really more like a small town, which is what it originaly was. Before it was anexed into the City of Chicago, it was the Village of MtGreenwood. We even had our own weekly news paper, a throw-over from the days when MtGreenwood was a town and not a Chicago Neigborhood.

I have a lot of fond memories of that "town," but I would not care to be living in a typical city apartment.

I'm not big on urban living either but being close to good food and a nice selection of stores is convenient.
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

Don't eat at restaurnats enough for that to be a factor for me, but you can't beat a city for art and cultural options.

I agree. There are a lot of great things about big cities. Chicago has some excelent museums, and cultural centers. It's a historical city and has a lot of interesting sights and things to do. My problem would be living there. I might like it if I could move back into my childhood home on Drake street, but if I had to live in one of those down-twon appartments, I would hate it passionately. It would be no different then living in a town home or a condo. There would be land lords or condo associations on my back all the time with all kinds of regulations, and the neighbors would be constantly beefing about the stereo. Parking is also a problem, and two of my buddies who live within the Chicago city limits, have never owned a car for more thent wo months that some idiot didn't ding it up opening a door in a crowded parking lot.

In a nut shell, bit cities are nice places to visit, but I would live in one on a bet.

Mike
