They can be but most attacks are brought on by the diver. When you see one you'll notice their mouths are always open and they can look pretty mean with all those teeth sticking out. In truth they have to have their mouths open so they can circulate water over their gills so they can breath. If bitten by one, try and stay as calm as you can and it will let go after a short while, because while it is holding onto you it can't breath, so it will need to let go in order to start breathing again.

It's only a guess, but the one that followed me up might have thought I was going to feed it. Divers have gotten many of the eels down there to become semi-tame and they will eat out of your hands.

NeverMore, Like I said, I wish I was as talented with a motorcycle as that guy in the video you posted, but I'm just not. Besides, my Harley is a touring bike and to heave...narf narf..... but I CAN ride to San Francisco Ca, and then take a boat, which would actualy be fun, I think. There are also a lot of haunted places in San Fran that I would love to photograph, all though I would have to do a google search in order to find them.

Unfortunately the "All Mighty Dollar" is not on my side these days, neither is Father time. I am planning a trip to the West Coast, a 'haunted' trip, but it's years away before the "All Mighty Dollar" and Father Time will allow for it. Most likely that will have to wait until after I retire, because from where I live, it takes over a week to get to California. OF course, the last time I drove the bike to California, I tool old Route 66, which is a very windy two laner for most of the way. If I took I 55 to I 40, I could probably cut a few days off. I also stopped at a lot of places along the way to take in the local "color."

Thanks for the info about the eels, VanHelsing.

Mike, I think any public space is pretty creepy when it's empty. Even an empty church can give me the willies. And schools after dark, or over a break, or after they are abandoned. A downtown area, like a forum, in the dead of night.

You have a point, Murf. Any abandoned place can be creepy, but abandoned prisons, insane asylums or other places where people were draged off to against their will, incarcerated, and in very many cases, tortured, beaten, and abused in many ways, in other words, places whre people suffered, tend to actualy be THE places where stories of hauntings, orbs, and paranormal activity abound. Regular hospitals, even though the primary focus is healing and helping sick or injured people also tend to be 'haunted,' because while the pain and suffering was not at the hands of the people running the place, and while they were not places where people were held against their will, there is a lot of suffering, and many if not most people die in hospitals.
