i personaly loved the film. i read a book about it half a year before the film was relesed. it was so convincing. the actuall sory is true, 3 students did go missing in the woods. as for the legend, the town of burkittsville still beleive there is a witch who lives in the woods. google burkittsville, maryland. very interesting.

then again many people who watched the film said it was ballsy film making !!

i on the other hand will definatley will be sitting down with the popcorn watching this on halloween!!

I like the first one. But I never for one second believe that stupid hype about it being real. Anyway I wish I thought of it. Made millions and only cost about $50,000 to make. What a gold mine. :D

I didn't care for the movie and I don't believe the legend at all...

My husband lived in MD for a couple years and he actually found the house where they filmed the Blair Witch movie... I don't know what he did with the photo-- it was before I'd met him... but he had a friend take a pic of him in the corner of that house while standing in the same position as the guy at the end of the movie.

I saw the movie in theaters when it came out.... I wish I could get my money back. I tried soooo hard not to laugh in the theater (Don't worry... I saw The Ring in the theater-- I was alone... at night-- and really did laugh aloud... ). I can't see how you'd have to sleep with the lights on after that.

I will admit it was "ballsy" film making... the camera being unsteady to give the impression of a home movie was too distracting for me... and it really didn't psychologically "thrill" me either. Though, being a very logical person it'd take a lot more evidence to convince me of the legitimacy of the actual "legend" being true. If I lived in MD, I'd most certainly dare to camp in those woods. Do you think the Blair Witch likes s'mores?

All I have to say about Blair Witch is that they had a FANTASTIC publicity dept! :?

I watched this in the cinema when it first came out and I was relatively young at the time - the marketing got to me and.. what can I say? I was completely absorbed by it. By believing that it COULD be real, it made the film so much better for me, it was totally immersive. But then I waited until the end of the credits and saw that it was all a work of fiction and I knew that if I ever watched it again, it wouldn't be the same. So I haven't.

I did, however, go and see the second one, which I actually loved and bought on DVD a few years ago. I watch it in the run up to every Halloween because it's still one of the better horror movies that fits my taste - it's not *too* gorey, it's twisty and the characters are good. At least, in my opinion :)
