Halloween Discussion Forums, Costumes, Horror!

This year's Halloween: fun. But the month, sooooooooo busy and it was very difficult to schedule in stuff to do. I did some things but I feel I could use more. So November is also a Halloween month and I will be doing some movie marathons and popcorn parties.

I also have a new thing called a "Haunting Kit" which I will show you at some point soon. This is something I came up with this year and I think some of you will be tickled by it!

ooo, i like the idea of novemberween. i too had the problem of finding time to fit some spooky things into my schedule. that's why i feel this halloween was a bit of a dud. i think this idea is great and i may do a few things as well to make up for my lost halloween time. can't wait to see that kit!

Tom, way to keep it going!! I am certainly intrigued by this 'Haunting Kit' and I'm going to follow your lead and cram in as many horror flicks as I can this month, especially the ones I really wanted to see in October and didn't get the chance for!

Movie nights definentally sounds fun. My pumpkins stay as long as they can. I only get them once a year so I have to enjoy them for as long as I can.

Haunting kit you say....hmmmmmm I might need to get me one of them Haunting Kits!!

Okay: Here's what a HAUNTING KIT is:

It is a little bag. has to be small. Good thing to use is one of those padded, insulated mini lunch bags with a big zipper compartment for a sandwich and drink and maybe 1 or 2 smaller compartments. Should have a strap. Buy one at Target for 7 dollars, maybe, or find something suitable at the 99 Cents Store or Big Lots.

Basically it is purse-like.

Mine is orange and black!

Into the big compartment you keep a lot of bat rings, plastic vampire fangs, plastic spiders. Also, one artificial candle with a flicker LED (I got one at the 99 Cents Store!). This is your visual stuff. Basically, in this compartment you have things, small things, you can hand out to people or decorate with. You COULD also have some CANDY, like small candy bars, in this compartment. Pack as much stuff as you can in here.

In the small front compartment you keep a mini MP3 player (I got one for about $30 at Big Lots, Sylvania Brand 1 Gb). You also should have a small battery powered speaker system (I got a tiny tiny one at Toys R Us for $5.99). Folded up, you also have a small shiny black gift bag. very small, just big enough to place the MP3 player and the speaker system--$1 at Party City.

The MP3 player should be loaded up with as many spooky albums and Halloween sound effects as you can get. Keep them in categorized folders you can menu between! You should be able to switch programs quickly to create different moods on demand.

The sound system has to be totally battery-driven so you can haunt in the forest or on a picnic if you have to.

When you want to play the spooky sounds, you program the MP3 player and drop it into the decorative black paper bag. You set that down someplace inconspicuous. The sound will come out of the bag. This is better than sitting the player in the open, because the sounds will be more mysterious if they appear to be coming from nowhere.

Once you have these things, or an assortment of your own that suits your own personal needs, keep it handy! (I may add a pumpkin room spray to mine.) That's your haunting kit, which you can take anywhere to create a spooky Halloween atmosphere whenever you want one.
