Why Halloween matters

Halloween is a holiday that has fermented over time as a result of several practices and traditions across the world. Whatever it's origins, its current state is not a villainous one. Halloween is a holiday of fun and nostalgia. We let ourselves out of our boxes and act out a little. We allow ourselves to be spooked and we retreat to the safe harbor of our homes and hallways. We give Halloween to the children and keep a little for ourselves. Pumpkins and black cats and scientists and big bats. It is all for fun. No evil intended. Halloween is not a holy day but it is also not an unholy day. It is warm fun and for that reason, we keep it sacred in the child heart within all of us.
