Autumn at the Dallas Arboretum Pics

Post by OctoberChill » Mon Sep 28, 2009 5:53 pm

We went out to the Dallas Arboretum today where they're having their annual autumn festival. They have hundreds and hundreds of pumpkins, all along the walk ways as well as a huge pumpkin patch and pumpkin house. These pics may be huge but they look better that way.

Nice photos.

Around here the pumpkin patch festivities are a little more traditional, but fun.

It took me a second to figure out that the 4-legged critter in the second pic from the top was a horse. it could have been a rooster by the look of it.

Yeah they had two of those straw horses. They were weird, but kinda cool. Unfortunately there was hardly anything traditional about the place aside from a small pumpkin patch (hay bales and piles of pumpkins) where all the kids were playing. Plus it was 80 degrees and sunny which definitely took some of the charm away. It was still fun though I suppose.

Andy I think I remember a pic you posted of you sitting on a hay bale in a pumpkin patch somewhere? THAT is my idea of a pumpkin patch. I wish we had more of those in this area.

Yup.

That would be Arata's http://www.aratapumpkinfarm.com/ . The first and still the best (at least in Nor Cal.)

If I recall I was in the middle of an outrageous flu spell when that photo was shot. Talk about dying for Halloween :D

That place looks like a lot of fun! i'm digging that horse thing or what ever it was that stood in the middle of all those pumpkins!!
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

those are great, i love that kind of stuff. we have a city park that does a "pumpkin walk" one year when my kids were small we went to one and they had people dressed up along the lines of a haunted house....i remember my son was about 7 or 8 and he was so scared! he was squealing like a little girl! so funny

These are great, OctoberChill!
I love the walkway lined with pumpkins.
And that Lumina variety is really cool-looking.
