The Graveyard Thread

Post by Rising Dead Man » Sun Mar 14, 2010 5:48 pm

A sequel to the old graveyard thread. Post you graveyard pics or stories.

I went to a cemetery today. And visited the grave of James Fisk. He has an interesting grave. A monument surrounded by nude women. There was a bust of him but I think it was stolen because I didn't see it. It was a really creepy place. It was getting dark. It was all cloudy and gloomy looking. And the place was all wet from rain and melting snow. It was the first time I actually felt creeped out in a cemetery.

What creeps you out about a graveyard? Is it the thought of being surrounded by dead bodies, the idea of ghosts or zombies rising from the grave, and other scary movie type stuff? Or is it the recognition that one day you'll also be dead? Or is it only creepy when it's like RDM's visit, because of a particularly gloomy atmosphere, with dark skies and mud? Or do you not find graveyards creepy at all, ever?

When did Mr. Fisk die, RDM?

So, why not? It's good idea to discuss about the creepy graveyard here with a good story and post some pics, if necessary. I'd love to read and view some pics here, too! 8)

The only thing that creeps me out about cemeteries is that our society has cultivated the practice of storing our dearly departed underground, in expensive boxes, in order for them to be brought back to life on a yet to be determined date.

The weather was just so gloomy yesterday it set off my haunting imagination.

I just took these a few hours ago.

Even the street the graveyard is on looks like something out of a ghost story.

I was scared to go down there yesterday. But I went today and there was nothing but trees.

That is so awesome, I would have loved to have been there! I love how aged the Fisk one looks, it looks as if there may have been a pic of the guy in the center where the oval is on the front. That is a massive headstone, he must have been rich! That cemetery is creepy indeed. :o

Oh and I love the house too, does anyone live there? I would think not by the way it looks but it would be beautiful if it was restored.

I think that's just some place where they store tools or something. I don't think crypts have trash cans in front of them.

There was a bust of James Fisk there. I think it was stolen.

More on my stroll through the graveyard.

What's down there?

Oh...that was disappointing. :(

Great photos though! :)

The graveyards here are pretty well maintained, and not as old as the ones that you lucky dogs on the east coast have.

I haven't been to a cemetery in ages. I think I'm due for a day trip.
