Man I am SOOOO excited about Halloween this year (okay, I always am).

I know it's early, but what do you guys think are going to be the hottest products/props/decorations this year?

I heard that there may be a 'haunted attraction' opening up in my area. If it does, I'll go check it out. As far as props and costumes go, however, I think there will be a lot of Bin Laden masks out there this year.

I'm trying to build up a nice steampunk costume for this year. They are quite hard to do, and expensive, so you have to spread the effort over time. Airship pirates ahoy! :D

They don't have to be expensive... http://www.instructables.com/ has some quick steampunk ideas. I've also seen some really interesting steampunk-y type ideas on Thread Banger.

Meant to do Steampunk last year (2010), but didn't exactly have a Halloween because of all sorts of random things that happened. Have fabric and ideas sketched up to make steampunk costumes this year-- but I'm really trying to think of an interesting and "steamy" way to hand out candy... some sort of contraption/automaton that does something... I dunno!

Planning to work on costuming over Memorial Day weekend... but we'll see how well that goes.

Wow, so you are in Australia? So for you, Halloween takes place in the spring, I guess. That would very much affect the way I experience it. For me, it is so much an autumnal holiday. If I lived south of the equator, I might try to do something "Halloweenish" on Walgurgisnacht, or something like that.

Do you experience a full range of four seasons in Australia? Do you get the colorful change of leaves in the fall, for example? Are you likely to see snow in the winter?

Its been so long since ive been on this forum, but the alloween excitement is starting to turn back up again, especially after Friday the 13th a few days ago and it almost being just 100 days til Halloween.

I haven't really started planning anything yet but as always my hopes are high for 2011, and this will be my last Halloween as a minor and im not sure if that means anything, but i feel like i should make it count and get together some really good stuff for this year before i get distracted by other things in life.

And as for props im really excited to see what new line the Spirit of Halloween store will have this year. and if there are bin laden masks then i can finally make the perfect bb gun target.

Well next year there will be more then one Friday the 13th. I don't remember the months, but you can rest assured that I will be posting them when it gets closer to December.

Cheers, some handy tips there! Are they still selling those extendable boxing glove things, where you have two levers at the end and it extends the glove out? You could get one of those and put a pouch with candy at the end. Or maybe some sort of spring thing. If all else fails a bit of decoration will get the right feel.

Sounds a lot like the League of S.T.E.A.M. "Punchy Fist"... It's a good idea, but not quite what I'm looking for-- though, it does point me in a different direction and I thank you for that. =)

Mayhaps I'll just pass out candy the old-fashioned way... OR re-use the candy cannon (cannon video). Now that I think on it, it'd be easy to mod the cannon. It would also be a justifiable Halloween expense to purchase an air compressor. Who doesn't need one of those, right? Haha!

Working on costumes next weekend. (hopefully!) Yays!

What an awesome video, I hadn't seen that before. Oh to have access to their costumiers! Good luck with yours anyway and post up pics upon completion! :D
