I think it would be a major nuisance to live near a house that does this, either at Halloween or at Christmas. Actually, there is one only a few blocks from us that puts on this humongous Christmas display, and they have to have a policeman directing traffic in front of it in December. Imagine how annoying it would be to live close to that! But it is fun to see it from afar.

There's an area not too far from where I live called Deerfield where all the houses decorate for Christmas and they do it up huge. There's a ton of traffic in that area around December and you can take carriage rides through all the streets to see what each house has done. They've been doing it for as long as I can remember, so I'm assuming everyone who lives there is cool with it. I just want this Halloween lights display on my street because I hate being the only one who decorates for the big night. I'd like all my neighbors to do something to show their holiday spirit.

Just this October, a few other houses on my street have started to decorate for Halloween. For years, ours was the only one. Then a house on the corner, owned by retired grandparents, started to decorate. Now, for the first time, the Muslim family across the street has decorated. They have put up bat lights, just like ours! So I feel complimented. And there are a couple of other houses down the way. The spirit is spreading. . . .

those light displays seem more suited to Christmas, not Halloween, Halloween is supposed to be spooky and scary, not a disco tech!

Hey they have pumpkins and they're singing This is Halloween. Haunters are an endangered species so we need to take what we can get 8)

I think it's fun, but my own home haunt is decidedly lower-key! I can't believe very many people will follow this family's example. It is a whole lot of trouble, and, as you say, Spooky , it's not really traditional. The homes around here that go "all out" generally do so with foggy graveyards, animatronic monsters, or costumed haunters!

My very favorite Halloween lights are candle-lit pumpkins & bonfires.
