I randomly found a fun looking cookbook on Amazon called A Zombie Ate My Cupcake. It's got all kinds of wild cupcake recipes in there (some that are so gory and real looking that I think I would get the dry heaves if I actually saw them being served at a party). According to the reviews, most of the recipes are pretty involved. Apparently the author makes every piece of the gory presentation--no pre-made decorations or props. There's one that I am a little curious to attempt though--I think it's called a shattered glass cupcake. It looks like a normal cupcake but it has jagged pieces of broken glass (made from sugar) sticking out of it. However, something tells me that I wouldn't have too many takers on those

Those look fantastic, but I steer clear of cake recipes that require too much prep. I am not that skilled, and I know I could spend a lot of time and effort without getting a similar result.
