Consoles

Post by Nostalgiascape » Wed Apr 01, 2009 5:36 am

Let us discuss consoles. Currently the three big hitters are Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3 and X Box 360. What shocks me is that the Wii is doing better business than the PS3 according to an article I read in the wall street journal.

My thoughts on Wii. I bought it, I bought all the sold separate parts I needed for it (Nintendo is bad that way). And all I cared to do with it is download older classic games. I had no desire to buy new Wii games or use the device to exercise. I actually sold it at a very mild loss. Got almost my money back.

X Box 360. Obviously the gaming world thinks that this console is all that is mighty. I have a few problems with it. I don't like its design and don't slather my console and cases with green. Controllers for the X Box 360 don't sit well with me.

The Ps3, this is where I'm thinking i'll have to dance with the one that brought me there. Technically Atari brought me there a long time ago, but I digress. Ps3 is where I'm going next. I have a few games I want to play on it when I'm not engrosses in Warhammer online. One of the Ps3 models is backwards compatible I am told. If that is true that is good because I have a lot of PsOne and Ps2 favorites that I still like to play. Final fantasy tactics anyone?

I have the Wii. That's pretty much all I did as well, just buy classic games. I should've just bought an NES. I think I'll still pick one up when I find one in good condition. I'm as content playing Paperboy as I am Call of Duty.

I actually have an xbox 360 now too. It's grown on me I have to admit. But I had always been a Playstation guy before. I still have my PSone and PS2. I think the main thing that made me buy a 360 is that I bought a Blu-ray player a few weeks prior. I figured the only thing the PS3 really had on the 360 was the Blu-ray.

I do enjoy xbox live though. And yeah I do believe one model of PS3 is backwards compatible. I'm not sure which one, or why only one model would be.

Man, I wish I had an Xbox 360 or a Playstation 3...the Wii doesn't interest me all that much.
But...I'm poor. So it's just PC games for me.
I DO have a Nintendo DS, but I don't know if pocket consoles count do they?
IF so, there's also the PSP and the Nintendo DS. I just have a standard DS, not the DS lite, and three games with it. Sonic Rush, Sonic Rush Adventure, and Sonic Chronicles...I hope my being a Sonic fan isn't TOO obvious. Hahah. You'd never be able to tell with my Shadow the Hedgehog signature.
I really want to get Sonic Unleashed, but I'd have to have one of the big consoles to play it. Sonic Unleashed is quite relevant to Halloween...because Sonic becomes...a Werehog! Yep. At night Sonic becomes a big hulking Werehog. I have an action figure of him too.
There's a really cool video involving the werehog and his new buddy. I think I'll post that in another thread in another section.
This probably seems crazy, crazy, a graveyard theory,
A ghost tried to approach me and got leery.
Ask him a question and he vanished in a second...

Yes, I should have added pocket conbsoles to the title. They do count and I hear that the DS is a good piece of technology.

i have the ps3 and xbox 360, but not the wii.

I really like the wii, but dont have it due to the popular demand, and also im short on cash.
I think the reason for everyone getting the wii first was because of three major reasons
1) sensor motion controler
2) way cheaper then ps3
3)more games (though once ps3 finally stops making ps2 games, im sure sales of this consul will rise )

either way, i got the ps3 first, i havn't explored all of its features, but i do know it has great graphics, blue ray, dvd, internet.. and other stuff. (and i prefer it way over the xbox 360 since it doesn't have a reputation for breaking down.)
and also some games (like lair ) are motion sensitive for the ps3 too(like the wii), which i loved that game, though it got bad reviews (fav games oblivion, rachete and clank, little big planet)

(i suggest if you try out lair then rent it first before buying it)

the xbox 360 in my opinion is really nice, but it broke on my in less then a year. finally i turned it in, and got it back and its fixed. But just the harsel of going and sending it and stuff made me flustered. Other then that the games are great. This is why i think it is the dominater over other consuls. (fav games. bioshock, fable 2, viva pinata)

even though i dont have the wii my friend does, so im sorta familar with it. it's a nice consul , but lacks in graphics, some nice features is internet (though sort of hard/annoying to use), also be warned that if you dont latch your controler to your hand, they may go flying at your tv screen. this station also obviously as stated above, has the ability to buy older games and save them, this is also a nice trait. (fav games wii sports, zelda, trama center)

yea, i think i covered everything....

We have the Wii, Xbox 360 and Super Nintendo (yes I said Super, lol). I love Zombies Ate My Neighbors on SNES. My kids usually play Hannah Montana on the Wii but I play Wii Fit. My husband LOVES his Xbox and I like it for the Netflix. I really would like to get a PS3 but they are so expensive and we have ENOUGH consoles and games to keep us happy.

Well, I HAD a PSP, but my mom forced me to give it to my little brother because I have a PC now(mad). and while I had it it was a really good console, online play, internet access, and good games.
