Fee comic book day

Post by NeverMore » Thu Jul 11, 2013 6:56 pm

Seems participating comic book stores are going to be giving out free comics the weekend before Halloween. While Marvel is not giving out anything Halloween related DC is getting in the spirit with a couple Batman reprints, Batman: Li'l Gotham #1 and Batman: The Long Halloween #1.

Here's a full list of the giveaways...

Sad to say, but the only comic books I ever got into were the Peanuts comic books. I did own a rare print of a Superman comit cook but it was destroyed when our basement flooded. I also had one of the first Star Trek comic books, but it was destroyed in that same flood.

I used to buy them when I was a kid. Had boxes full of comics in my parents attic when I moved out and forgot about them. Lots of the old EC horror comics. About ten years ago, at the height of the comics craze, I remembered and went up in the attic to grab them. Gone! My parents insisted they knew nothing about them, my guess is they sold the whole lot years back for a hundred bucks. Shame. I know for a fact I had the issue of Amazing Spider-Man where Gwen Stacy died, #121?. At the time that one was selling for $1000.

Speaking of comics, Comic-con starts today. We're going downtown on Saturday. I'll try to get pictures of any cool costumes I see.

That is sad to hear, NeverMore. I had an entire collection of those Auora model monsters. In fact I had just about all of them. I had the Forotten Prisoner of Castle Bar, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Frankenstein, Dracula, the Wolf Man, and the 1930s rendition of Dr. Jeckyl & Mr Hyde. I also had Godzilla, King Kong, Gamera and a really neat vampire bat. I used them as Halloween decorations. Then in the Summer of 77, we moved to arm pit New Lenox, and my parents decided that I was "too old for such childish persuits," and ordered me to toss them all in the trash can. I gave them to the neighbor kid across the street, instead.

These were beautiful glod-in-the-dark plastic models, too. They would have been great for Halloween decorations.

I agree. It was a crying shame, because some of those models are selling for over 2000 bucks.

I used to have one of the big Tonka dump trucks, not the small lightweight ones they make now. I also used to have one of the 2 feet tall G.I. Joe figures. They were sold in garage sales and I don't want to know what they are worth now. I don't need another reason to cry lately.
