Decomposition is NOT bad for the environment. Disolving bodies in acid is probably a lot more environmentaly unfriendly then cremation or standard burrial.
That exhibit does look pretty gross, and I would likely lose my lunch if I went to see it shortly after eating.
I never knew being a mortician was so math intensive, but then I understand that some of they tend to make quite a bit of money, and recession or no recession, people are allways going to die. I don't know if I would go into that field, though.

Re: The St. James Sag Partr 2
I just did a quick web search. I checked out two web sites, because I was curiuous as to what kind of $$$ morticians make. The medium sallary range, according to the first web site I checked is 48,000 per year. The low end was 39,000 per year, and the highest or top 75% make abount 58,000 per year. I went to an other web site, and they reported, though I find it hard to believe, that a mortician or funeral director can make over 90,000 per year. Well, maybe if he own's a successful funeral home.

Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

I pared, and thrice above my crown

Not bad money at all!
I had a friend that did the makeup on people. He really like it.

Mike, funeral directors can make a lot of money because they do a lot of different things, they can embalm, they make the arrangements, grief counseling, sales, body retrieval, all sorts of different things and in a more affluent area, they can make a lot.

Re: The St. James Sag Partr 2
A funeral director is responsible for arranging the details of funerals and burials.
One of the job duties a funeral director has is to prepare the body of the deceased. A funeral director oversees the morticians and undertakers in picking up the body of the deceased, as well as transporting, and embalming the body. Depending on the wishes of the family, the funeral director may unite and place the obituary, set up the funeral details, and arrange cremation or burial.
If the family of the deceased wants their loved one to have a wake or a viewing before the funeral, the funeral director can set this up. A good funeral director will remain in the background while family and friends comfort each other, but also be attentive to details and available for all the tasks that need to be taken care of during the grieving process.

Re: The St. James Sag Partr 2
I never thought of that, but now that I think about it, the AVERAGE cost of a funeral and burial is 6000 dollars. That's just AVERAGE cost. So funeral directors and morticians must be doing pretty good.

You are also very correct and funny...death is big business for a lot of these places.
They say that life's a carousel
Spinning fast, you've got to ride it well
The world is full of kings and queens
Who blind your eyes and steal your dreams
Its heaven and hell, oh well
I am Vengeance...I am the Night!
I swear to God...[Batman]SWEAR to Me!!
