Nope.
My husband lived in MD for a couple years and he actually found the house where they filmed the Blair Witch movie... I don't know what he did with the photo-- it was before I'd met him... but he had a friend take a pic of him in the corner of that house while standing in the same position as the guy at the end of the movie.
I saw the movie in theaters when it came out.... I wish I could get my money back. I tried soooo hard not to laugh in the theater.

I didn't think anyone actually believed this story, or legend, was "real world." It was a construct for the film, everything else was just really effective marketing.

I live in Maryland right now. Can anyone tell me where the Burkittville woods is? The movie may not be the best in the world, but I still love to investigate.
One movie I thought was better was "The St.Franciasville Experiment"

My husband says it's just south of Randallstown (just outside Baltimore to the NW). Unfortunately, he can't remember exactly where it is (It's been +6 years since he's been there), but it's somewhere in the area bounded by Interstate 695 on the east, Interstate 70 on the south, Dogwood Road (or possibly further) on the west, Liberty Road on the northeast, and Old Court Road (125) on the northwest.
All my husband remembers is that he was driven south on a winding road, and then the driver turned left onto another winding, hilly road with steep grades. You suddenly see some nice new houses and some fields. In one of the fields you see silos that "don't look like your classic silos". The next field beyond the silos, there's a chain link fence with barbed wire atop running alongside a service road. You'll see a barrier gate (a pipe on hinges saying "do not enter"). Park at the side of the road, take the utility path beyond the gate. Just a short way up the road and you'll see a broken down house with Blair Witch symbols on it.
