I know a couple of people in town that carve pumpkins professionally:

David Billings of the Sand Demon usually works with Giant Atlantic pumpkings.

Check out some of his other carvings here http://www.sandemons.com/pumpkins.html

And Craig Mutch, who works with David doing sand sculptures, does some incredible stuff too

My WOOOOORD!!!!!!!! Those are soooooo grand and articulate I was immediately struck with the idea of 'what if, back when pumpkins were FIRST being carved, to scare away demons and the like, pumpkins were carved like THIS!!!!! One might get burned at the stake for having powers with the Devil!

I kind of liken it to taking a rock band of today (complete with the proper technology and electricity) back two hundred years and laying THAT out for the people of the day!

Wow! what an age we live in! :D

This year I'm breaking out the dremel with all the sanding attachments. I'm hoping to come up with something good. Although not that freakin' good!!

Those Pumpkins are totally amazing Mr.Halloween! I went to the link you provided for David Billings Sandemons, and those are just out of this world! For those who haven't, check out the link Mr.Halloween provided under the first picture, it's well worth your time :D

Really amazing artistry. Not to mention the greenest of thumbs, the grower! Somehow I feel compulsed to even thank the pumpkin for such a grand showing. Love your pics.
