Corn Stalk

Post by SpookyBlackKat » Thu Sep 30, 2010 10:16 pm

So I am DETERMINED to find corn stalks for our yard display this year but I've never handled the stuff. Do you use corn stalk when decorating? If so, where do you find it? I've been to farmer's markets in town and I've never seen any nor would I know where to find them. We live in a pretty metropolitan area so I have no clue where to look. Can I get some advice from those of you who have experience with stalks?

I have stalked before, but I'm sure that's not what you mean...

High-end grocery stores sometimes carry them, but I find them at road-side veggie stands, but then I live in the hills outside of the metro area.

Our local Walmart has some beautiful Corn stalks this year & they are really cheap!! I try to get some every year and put them in front of my porch, I add some beautiful Hallloween bows to them to give them a litlle punch of color!!

I don't know. I've never seen them for sale that I remember, but then I never really looked for them. I imagine if I ever wanted cornstalks, I'd just drive out to my Granny's farm and cut a couple of stalks from the field.

I just bought some today! We have a local seasonal green house here. I buy all of my spring flowers and my fall pumpkins and stalks there.

I payed $3.00 a bunch for them. There are about 5 stalks in each bunch. I use them on each side of my front porch steps.

I have grown corn in the past, but I am not a gardener. I hate to garden. I would rather pay 6 bucks for some that I didn't have to grow and cut.

I'll have to check out our Wal Mart and possibly our Fresh Market. I've never seen any stalk before though. I'm hoping to create a pumpkin patch theme for our yard this year and really need some tall stalk to set the mood!
