Perfect weather for Halloween?

Hey guys, just checking in from the beach. It was a beautiful day here in North Carolina's Outer Banks and it got me thinking-what is your ideal weather for Halloween? (During the day leading up to the night, and the night itself) For me Halloween would be a sunny day with a crisp breeze swirling Autumn leaves. It would be no warmer than about 55 degrees. An ideal Halloween night would be one with a full moon, partially covered with grayish black clouds. The temp would linger around 45 degrees to create a slight chill.

All in all, however, I'm always happy on the big day regardless of the weather. (Unless it's raining, of course)

I didn't think in terms of temperature numbers then, but I recall, in the 70's, Halloween was invariably a clear, cool, sunny day, and in the evening, just right. I don't recall really cold Halloween nights trick or treating...the temperature was always just right. I think the Great Pumpkin was watching out for folks!

Hmmm... actually, I like it rather warmer, like high 60's in the day (and lots of sun and beautiful autumn scenery) and high 50's at night... a little wind...

But any Halloween is magical to me, no matter what weather it comes along with.

I got perfect weather here in VA since 2001. Always stays at 70 degrees! Warm, cool nice darky nite!

I remember on Halloween nite in 2000 was bad night because of the rainy! So I hope this year will stay about the same.

The day should be a glorious Indian Summer day after several nights of frosts, with the high temperature in the 60s. Banks of clouds will roll past the sun, creating a patchwork of light and shadow across the landscape. The autumn foliage will be a riot of color: gold, crimson, brown, green, and yellow. Cool northern breezes make a symphony of wind as the trees toss their branches. Sunset brings flocks of geese honking overhead, heralding the night to come, as children ready their cotumes and their parents light the jack-o'-lanterns. The streetlights blink on and the temperature drops nicely. The first children out on the streets kick through piles of dry leaves with a loud rustling noise. As night has come at last, a bright, creamy full moon sits over the horizon, and the Man in the Moon smiles upon all he sees. The sound of the wind through the dark swaying trees is joined by shouts and laughter and running feet.

I like the weather crisp and sunny with the wind blowing and LOTS of fall leaves. I like the temperature to be cool but not so cold you have to bundle up. I also love when people start some outdoor fires so you can smell fall in the air. For night - I love it to be clear skys so you can see the moon and perfect weather for all the kids and their costumes.

I really live in the wrong part of the country! Humble/Houston doesn't get a real fall! It's rained here the past couple of Halloweens! To experience a Halloween that was even remotely close to anything described above, would be absolute heaven for me!!!

halloweenqueen - have you ever thought about going out of town for halloween? I think it is fun that so many cities have different weather. Makes it unique

I wish I could! I would love to but the dilema is that my son's bday is Oct. 28th, so its hard for the little kids to be on vacation on their birthdays. I think it would be awesome but the kids want the party, presents, friends, etc. thing for their bdays! Oh well, can't say that I blame them too much...i was the same way when i was a youngster!

More times than not, it usually rains, here in Portland, OR. and if not, it's really cold. But, We're used to it here. It's what the fall is all about!

OEJ, I was stationed in Tacoma, WA for three years and remember the rain. I quickly learned that if you waited for the rain to stop before doing anything outside you would end up indoors 24-7.

I miss my New England Halloween weather. Smoke in the air, crunchy leaves, and cool temps.

alright, perfect weather. let's see here
picture it- oct 31, morning. it's sunny w/ a slight overcast. crisp and chilly. wind blowing, leaves of gold, purple, and red dancing around. the smell of pumpkin and spices starting to fill the air. noon breaks. same sky and wind conditions. it warms up a tiny bit, not enough to shed the fall uniform of chunky sweather, suede jacket, jeans, and the season's boots. the aroma of baking is fully in the air. in the far off distance, you hear the slight sound of preschool halloween specials on tv. moms playing outside w/ their children decked out in their halloween best. mid afternoon hits. school children run home to get in their costumes (coz they can't wear them to school anymore. bastard school boards) and eagerly await the witching hour when they can run around and fulfill childhood fantasies of scaring neighbors and filling their treat bags w/ the sweet, sweet candy. in the distance you now here halloween specialsl geared for the older kids. now dusk settles. the temperature drops slightly to get the crispness back, but not cold enough that children have to cover their costumes w/ coats. doorbells start ringing. chants of "trick or treat" can be heard. 2-3 hours of pure childhood bliss. all the neighborhood's houses lit up and decorated. then the children head for home. the scent of burning wood is now in the air and the temperature drops even more to the point where you have to have a blanket to warm you up as you curl on the couch w/ your kids to watch the rest of everyones favorites halloween specials. you put your kids to bed and check their candy and eat what you know they won't, then you pop in your favorite horor movies and veg out on the couch til midnight, the end of the most perfect day. you blow out your candles, go to bed. and in the morning, your slight halloween depression comes back so you start planning your thanksgving menu and make sure you still have the feel and smell of the most perfect of seasons, autumn
