Re: Halloween count down!!!
It's funny, but I was listening to one of my home mixed CDs and posting to various threads on this forum, and as soon as I hit the "Halloween Countdown" thread, the theme song to the movie "Experiment in Terroe" (for those of you from the Chicago area, you may recognize that tune as the opening and closing theme to the WGN horror movie tv show "Creature Featues" hosted by Earnie Bishop) just as I clicked on it. Brings back fond memories.

Re: Halloween count down!!!
I do pretty much keep the whole month of October (which is my favorite month of the year) as my Halloween month, and like you, I sometimes have a hard time waiting until October to start. I am already scouring the magazine racks in the stores for Halloween issues (Pillsbury has come out with their Halloween recipe booklet). And I have bought a couple of Halloween-themed items from Old Time Pottery & Michael's.oboingo76 wrote:Hey all - I'm new to the board but so glad to see others are counting down as well. I announced my 89 days 'til Halloween count on FB yesterday and many just don't understand! I do begin my celebration on Oct 1 when my Halloween decorations come out and we watch atleast one horror film each night. (Let's face it - I TRY to wait until Oct 1 - last year I started the last week of Sept).
Do all of you celebrate all month as well?
I don't do any holiday all year. I love them all, but as a child, I kept a Christmas tree up in my bedroom until late June. That year, the Christmas tree in December didn't mean as much to me, because I had had one up for half the year already. I find that I need to take a break from my favorite holidays in order to enjoy them to the max. (Shakespeare actually has some lines about that in First Henry IV--"If all the year were playing holiday,/to sport would be as tedious as to work/But when they seldom come, they wished-for come/ And nothing pleaseth but rare accidents.")
So I try to enter into the spirit of each season in its turn. I love them all, but I love October the best.

Whoo-ho! 82 days till Halloween, Halloween, Halloween. 82 days till Halloween, I can't wait!! (Set to the tune of the insidious little rhyme from Halloween 3, Season of the Witch. I didn't even like the movie, but damn if the rhyme and tune didn't stay with me.)iHaunt wrote:So here is another countdown banner!
We're the farmer's scarecrows
We scare away the birds,
We keep the farmer's corn safe
Without any words.
But when Halloween comes
We jump out of the ground
And we scare the boys and girls
When they come walking 'round.
We scare away the birds,
We keep the farmer's corn safe
Without any words.
But when Halloween comes
We jump out of the ground
And we scare the boys and girls
When they come walking 'round.

I'm still having lots of Summer fun on my Harley, but when the Halloween count down goes down into the two didgit range, I do get that little twinge of excietment. In fact, I even tested all of my Halloween lights and plastic jack o'lanterns. They all work.

My halloween bug is awake too. This year I decided I'm going to start a miniature Halloween village to put up in the house each year. Can't wait to get started on that!

The decorating has begun at my house!!! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
Halloween wraps fear in innocence, As though it were a slightly sour sweet.
Let terror, then be turned into a treat...
