Dremel

Just wondering if anyone owns or has used the Dremel Pumpkin Carving Kit? We want something a bit better to make our pumpkins look better than they already do.

I've seen mixed reviews online, so was wondering if anyone here had any insight on this product.

Sorry if it's been asked before, I only had a quick look on the threads to see if it already had.

I've never tried the kit, but I did try using the router on my Dremel on a pumpkin one year. I got pumpkin bits all over me, and the lines didn't even come out straight. Then I tried my Black and Decker jigsaw, and it worked way better.

My grandpa did the same thing to use jigsaw on pumpkins.

I have a pumpkin carving dremel. I've used it once... maybe 3-4 years ago? I was not impressed. It's GREAT for detail carving, but it's so terribly messy.

One tip I had read for keeping the tool clean (less scrubbing) was to put it in a sandwich baggie-- poke the part that spins out of the bag, of course. That worked well to keep the tool clean, but it is still a big mess-- it flings pumpkin bits everywhere.

If you want to do detail work, I'd say it works well. I wouldn't use it for the main carving portions.

Well, I only use long kitchen knife and a very few jigsaw knives for carving pumpkins.

I will possibly buy one then. If I don't i'll just buy extra jigsaw knives. We only have one at the moment & it's a little worn now.

Some people have good creative how to carve the pumpkins, well.... not me! I like old fashioned way! My girlfriend do loves to carve the pumpkins all the time, sometimes I do.

My wife & I share it out. Last year I did two & she did three. She can do the more intricate ones though.

This is a dremel... I have one photo of it in a sammich baggie and another of it out of the bag. I got this dremel tool... 2007 at Lowe's for $20, I believe.
