Question! Please help.
Hello all~
So I'm planning ahead this year, since I usually wait until the last minute to come up with a costume (usually I decide what I wanted to do was too costly/difficult).
Anyway, I'm planning on painting my face as a sugar skull this year since I think they're so neat. I'm a little lost on how to dress for that though. I'd really like to have a stellar outfit to go with the face paint, and I feel like I'd need something a little over the top because of the makeup is so in-your-face to begin with.
Any suggestions?

And I love your idea of the sugar skull! I had an idea for that but I need to find someone to help with the makeup, so I don't know.
For the costume, I thought of something gypsy-ish?

Welcome!! I agree with Bella, something Gypsy-ish or maybe a bride or groom costume or maybe even day or the dead theme costume. Good luck!!

I can't really see anything else working for a sugar skull costume other than the gypsie idea. Maybe the day of the dead-type of outfit would work too. Either that, or wear a black outfit and paint a skeleton on it that fits with the decoration of the sugar skull.
Edit: You know what would be cool... you could wear a gypsie outfit but rip holes in the shirt to show a skeleton underneath. Maybe paint a skeleton on a black t-shirt and wear it underneath the gypsie shirt.

Well, I had never heard of a sugar skull, so ran off a-googling. Learn something new every day! A Mexican, Day-of-the-Dead thing. Imagine how the TOTers would react around here if they found a few of those in their sacks! I think it is a very imaginative idea for a costume. Yes, gypsy clothes, or maybe something conspicuously Mexican, or even Aztec. And having the skeleton t-shirt peek through--brilliant!

Why don't you try having an outfit that would make your body look like a Skeleton?

Try watching the Sharon Stone/Russell Crowe "The Quick and the Dead" film for ideas-- I know they have some sorta festival before the gun fight where there are costumes involving skull face paint... grungy, western gunslinger costumes. =)

Sylvia Ji is my inspiration, however most of the girls are nude or you can't see the outfit enough.SpookyBlackKat wrote:I love the photos on this site. This is what first popped into my mind. I think this is just gorgeous.
