...I'd be kicked out of the house for that.
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

I would post what I got if I could find my camera.
Halloween wraps fear in innocence,
As though it were a slightly sour sweet.
Let terror, then, be turned into a treat...

My decorations I ordered the other day arrived today. Had to be delivered in a big box. I'll post some pics once I sort through them. :)

I just noticed a Halloween Express down the street from my house. I went by yesterday while running errands. It was like a breath of fresh air being in there.

I did notice, however, that the size of Halloween stores seem to be shrinking. They'll rent out huge buildings that used to be Conn's or Macy's but only use a portion of it by blocking off the rest of the building with black hanging sheets. There were only four aisles in this store with a very limited supply of costumes. I thought maybe it was just this particular store, but a friend of mine said the same thing about a Spirit Halloween by his house. It was great going in there for the first time in a while, but I'm worried that Halloween as a whole may be a dying holiday.

It's the economy.

Luckily it's all about spirits and otherworldly things.

I stopped by a couple stores last week. Picked up the new Midnight Syndicate CD at one of them. Haven't listed to it yet because I misplaced the bag when I got home. Cat probably dragged it off. Did find my iPod though. Cat carried it off into another room and hid it under a bookcase.

I picked up a nylon mask with a pumpkin skull face at another store. Figured it would easily fit in my pocket and I can quickly throw it on for those emergency scares.

Got the decals below at Spirit. New this year. My roommate is going to put the girl, cat and dog on her car. I'm going with the guy and goldfish. I don't currently have a goldfish... but I could have.

Ha! Ha! Cat got a little too curious about the candle I bought at Rite-Aid Pharmacy. Burned his whisker.

Yeah, it really does smell like candy corn.

Oh, absolutely it's the economy. That, and, as we've remarked before, Halloween falls on a Monday this year--probably the least festive day of the week.

People will always celebrate Halloween--how many centuries has it been around, surviving persecutions, etc.? But in a down economy, people are retrenching. It is easy to make do with decorations purchased in previous years, or with a little creativity and home-made stuff.

The musical play Wicked is returning to Nashville this Oct. Although I've already seen it, I did explore ticket prices yesterday, and I noticed that (while the play is largely sold out), some of the tickets that remain have been dropped in price. I just think people aren't spending as much on anything right now as they do in better times.

Not my cat. It's my roommate's. I just get to torment it. Still thinking about putting superglue on it's paws and sticking it to the ceiling.
