Tonight is Krampusnacht and Giz has posted on 6 tools with which to terrorize the children.

I wonder if MacPhantom went through with his plan?

I read about this tradition in German Life magazine a year or two ago. There's some weird stuff out there, for sure!

I guess today is St. Nicholas' Day, when children in the Catholic parts of Germany receive their Santa gifts. I believe it was Martin Luther who switched the gift-giving to Christmas Day, in an effort to get away from celebrating saints' days. However, his idea of having the Christ Child give gifts didn't work so well, since Jesus is always envisioned as a newborn at Christmas. So the "Christkind" is generally depicted as a beautiful teenage girl, dressed as an angel.

I wish I had known about this. I would have been celebrating it all along :?

When my 14-yr-old daughter saw that video just now, she exclaimed, "It's the Nightmare before Christmas! For real!"

Doesn't it? When I saw that picture, I think I may have jumped a little bit. That thing needs to roam around during Halloween! It'll have plenty of kiddos to scare or eat!
