Re: Imagine...
I've meet folks who feel the same way about the movie Monster Squad, that came out in 1987 if I'm not mistaken. It was a kids film although it had some adult themed material by way of violence and some gore. I found some bulletin board a few years back where I thought they were going to meet somewhere and fight over the movie! LOL!
Probably can say that about a lot of movies, but maybe more so in the horror genre. I know quite a few people who will not watch the Exorcist for love or money!!!

SJP is not a favorite actress of mine either, to tell you the truth, but I still enjoy Hocus Pocus.
The Exorcist is a good movie, but not my favorite, actually. I usually pull it out once a year near Halloween. Why were people fighting over it?

I feel the same about Tom Cruise. Don't like the guy, but love every movie I've seen him in.Murfreesboro wrote:SJP is not a favorite actress of mine either, to tell you the truth, but I still enjoy Hocus Pocus.

You know, I have that reaction to Tom Cruise as well. Even before he jumped on the couch, I just wasn't a fan. But he was always good when I saw him in the movies.

Re: Imagine...
Some thought it was a good enough scary movie for adults, while others said it was for kids only, and if an adult liked it they were wimps. Some people didn't like being called wimps, so they say meet me at such and such place and you'll see what a wimp does to your panzy face!Murfreesboro wrote:SJP is not a favorite actress of mine either, to tell you the truth, but I still enjoy Hocus Pocus.

I thought it was pretty funny.
They came out with an anniversary dvd on the movie and had some Q&A with the actors, director, producer and writer. The guy who directed the movie said that he was happy with the cult status the movie has gained over the years and they are popular at the conventions, but he said within the Hollywood community the movie had hurt his career because of what many consider the ambiguity of who the movie was made for and how he and others in the production staff have lost jobs because of it.

Re: Imagine...
I have people in my own family who refuse to watch the Exorcist.
They say its because of the intense adult themed content, but I tend to think some might be a tad concerned that watching it will open some portal that lets the real Devil in!
When they came out with the expanded edition, I went out and bought a copy and brought it home and NOBODY would watch it with me!
Truth be told it wasn't worth paying for a new copy. The only "scary" part is literally a split second shot of Linda Blair's character doing the crab walk down the stairs. It happened so fast I actually missed it, and had to back the movie up and watch it again. You blink and you miss it. The rest of the extended part is Lee J Cobb talking to the priest who was Father Damien's friend. That was about three minutes of useless dialogue at the tail end of the movie.
Lame, and pointless.

Can't say I'm a big Tom Cruise fan either, but I have to admit he has a good sense of humor and is not afraid to be lampooned or even lampoon himself. The Ben Stiller movie Tropic Thunder was a total rib on Tom Cruise. Think about it? Bens character was Tug Speedman. Tug Speedman=Tom Cruise. And of course Cruise was in the movie too.
Robert Downey Jr character was a rib on Russell Crowe.

Hardly a week goes by that someone I arrest doesn't tell me that I'm the devil, spawn of Satan, white devil, or white devil cracker. They're going to jail for robbery, assault, theft, car jacking, murder and child molesting, but I'm the devil.NeverMore wrote:Too late!!! Count me in the group that loves hocus pocus! The movie has it all for me as far as Halloween goes. Witches, zombies, black cat, trick or treating, the setting and scenery, etc. Love it!
