Hi Everyone,

How are you doing?

Anyone have plans for the Labor Day weekend? I am starting to get the twitch for getting my Halloween stuff out, I am soooo ready!!

Does painting and deck sealing count as plans?

We will be throwing dead animal parts on the grill on Monday, but aside from that it will be a low-key weekend.

I did dig out The Ghost and Mr Chicken to get the ball rolling though.

We'll be bbq'ing with family but I just got a coupon book from JoAnns, so I plan to head over there to get a few fall decor items! I'll probably get some more Autumn type things up in the next week or so. I try to wait until the end of Sept to get my halloween stuff out

Not much.. Husband studying for a test and I have to help; I already have a headache!!!
I worked yesterday and have to work tomorrow, so its pretty much a regular weekend for me..booooo!

Labor Day weekend was a bust for me. My son had surgery so we were in the hospital most of the weekend. Got home today. Just watching some surprisingly relevant Brewers baseball and do add the orange lights to our little night light display and brought out some fall stuff...a little fall leaf garland for our kitchen window and a couple small scarecrows/pumpkins. Excited to get the ghoulish stuff out in a few weeks.

So great to see some friendly faces!

We spent Labor Day weekend helping kids move. Daughter moved back into her Sewanee dorm, and we helped older son clear out his Nashville apartment. He finished his PhD at Vandy in late August and has moved to Ohio State for a post-doc.

My husband surprised me by buying 3 Day of the Dead themed pumpkins I'd been admiring at Kroger, two white, one black. I also bought a beautiful bouquet of autumnal silk flowers at Walmart for my dining room table.

I'm showing off my recent project, actually.

I got the black and gold desk from a thrift store for $50.

It had a stuck drawer that was easily un-stuck, and shaved $150 off of the sticker price.

The mirror came from Craigslist for $40.

It had multiple layers of truly god-awful colors, and it's 4.5 feet tall by 3 feet wide and weighs about 40 pounds.

I sanded it and sprayed on a coat of black lacquer, added some inexpensive trim that compliments the desk, painted gold to match.

I haven't worked up the courage to hang it on the wall yet, so it's leaning against it.

As configured it stands 6.5 feet high, 4.5 feet wide, and 27 inches deep.

Approximate total, $120.

It's magnificent.

A better shot of the whole thing.

It dominates a 10' X 11' bedroom, but the mirror is so big it really isn't that overwhelming.

That is beautiful! I love repurposing things! Two weeks ago, on Craigslist, there was a piano listed for free. I had the hubby and two others run out and grab it. It needs minor scratches repaired and that't it!! Gotta love it! The desk and mirror are really nice!

I am painting on my Bride of Frankenstein, she is ceramic and 16 inches tall, wish me luck!! I also have a mannequin head I want to work on.

It may have issues inside. It almost certainly needs tuning and could a number of mechanical issues. It may even need the strings replaced (which is very expensive), however if you're not a professional that wouldn't make much difference.

I've had a number of pianos, and this one is actually in great shape. Needs minor tuning, but that's all. I've really had a ball playing it!
