To Live Forever:

What would it be like
To roam the night
Shunning the day
Live another day

If it were offered
Would you take it?
Or would you turn it down
To only end up in the ground -
In time

To live forever - or choose to die
You may hesitate......but not I.

And now, some Halloween Haiku....

The old candy corn
sits in the dish mocking me
I think I'll eat some

The corpse in the room
with his jack-o-lantern grin
smells like feet and cheese

Vampires are boring
hanging out at Hot Topic
are fishnets on sale?

A worm conquers all
in your death victorious
and yet he's still gross

Pumpkin guts on my knife
pumpkin guts on the wall
Pumpkin guts smell to me
like soon it's going to be Fall

Pumpkin corpse in the window
pumpkin corpse down the hall
Pumpkins would die by the thousands
if I could just get to them all!

Pumpkins creeping up behind me
not something I thought pumpkins could do
Pumpkins tie me down and tell me,
"Now we'll carve a lantern out of you!"

Walking home one night
in a cold, sweaty fright
I heard the lament of an owl in a tree.
Sad and strange and very eerie
"Whooo, Whooo is afraid of me?"

"I have no teeth shining bright
reflecting cold moonlight
to scare away children to their homes.
No witch's hat or screech like a cat
no dry and rattling bones."

Then the owl swooped down
knocking me to the ground
and snatched away my soul from me.
And at nights you may find, you hear a mournful cry of mine
"Whooo, Whooo will save me?"

Recipe for Halloween

A scoop of darkness
a bright full moon
leaves blowing in the breeze
Halloween will be here soon

One jack o lantern
a pinch of flickering light
a bunch of ghouls
dancing around all night

Heaping tablespoon of heebie jeebies
A bit of Spooky boo
Alot of things that go bump in the night
Now all we need is YOU!!
Wild Winds thou shalt blow
carry away my saddened soul
tis the time of Judgement

It's like Laurie Strode said, too much coffee will do strange things to you...

The mood of your pieces are very well crafted, good work.

You too Nos!

Honestly, y'all, if you creative authors don't mind, I'd love to put a few of these poems on scrolls or something and add them as decorations around the house this Halloween..the kids could help me add pictures on them too-it'd be a great festive project for us! :D

My best friend is a werewolf
but I didn't know it
But this past Halloween
boy did he show it

When he came to my house
to go trick or treating
I had decided to give him
a most unusual greeting

With trousers dropped to the floor
I gave him a peek
Pressed against window
were my rosy cheeks

And with one look
my friend started to swoon
And turned to a werewolf
when he saw my full moon

And when I think of the carnage
that followed that night
I feel pretty awful
for causing that fright

But my debt was paid
as the night came to pass
For after the werewolf changed
he bit me on the ...... toe

Doc, I must say. I think you found your calling.
Because once you cross that bridge, my friend, the ghost is through, his power ends.

Goblins and ghouls
werewolves that drool
at the site of fresh young girls

It's the season to spook
the season to haunt
Look at those zombies
Boy are they gaunt!

Jack O Lanterns aglow
Everyone knows
this is my fave holiday!

chocolate and candy
Isn't it handy
to have a bucket all my own?

Ghosts, monsters, faeries
Dress all cute or dress all scary

you can even be a cheerleader with a pom pom
Tell everyone you got your costume ideas

A desperate romantic am I
my heart's upon my sleeve
True love one day will find me
it's what I tried to believe

But alas true love took its time I fear
and could not win the race
Now this heart truly rests upon my sleeve
as this zombie eats my face....

Okay, so SOME of these (when I make them decorations for our Halloween party) I'll have to refrain from reading to the kids- we'll let our adult friends enjoy them on their own. Can't scare them away from Halloween before they're old enough to convert.
