Need some Postive thoughts and Prayers

Post by Haunted Horseman » Thu Nov 08, 2007 7:19 am

Hey Guys,
The last 14 hours have been terrible. First I learned that my aunt passed away and then last night my son michael had a pretty bad accident which resulted in me spending a could portion of the evening in the emergency room. I really blame myself for this and it is killing me. When I wasn't looking, he climbed on an end table in our living room slipped, fell and his chin it the end table, cause his upper tooth go through his lower lip and causing huge gash. He had to have several stitches and worst part is that he may have to have a tooth removed as a result. This little guy is not even 2 yet and may have to go through this surgery. I'm really praying we can avoid this.

I gotta tell you, it was the worst experience of my life see him strapped down and having to help hold him in place on the operating table while they stitched up his lip. He was screaming Dadda, Dadda, pleading that I could save him from this experience and there was nothing I could do. It just broke my heart. Tears were just pouring from my eyes.
I'm sorry guys for laying this on you, I'm just hoping some postive thoughts and prayers will help.
Thanks so much.
Because once you cross that bridge, my friend, the ghost is through, his power ends.

Oh this is terrible, I'm so sorry!! I know that was torture for you to see him there like that and I hope and pray he doesn't need the surgery! How is he doing now?? I know you want to blame yourself, but it was truly an accident HH, anyone of us could have made the same mistake!! It is very hard to remain on perfect guard of every situation and toddlers have boundless energy and curiousity. Oh man, I hope he's better this morning, I'll be thinking about y'all today!

And about your aunt..horrible! What a night for you!! I'm very sorry to hear of that news as well- many positive thoughts and prayers for you and Michael today, HH!!!

Many Prayers HH :?

I myself had to be held down when I was 7...my brother threw a lead pipe & knocked me upside the head....took a lot of stitches...I still remember.

oh, my HH, my thoughts are with you, but as parents, it's not rare for us to go to the ER. i know that i've been there with my toddler. don't blame yourself. accidents happen. one time in winter my girls father was holding her and walking through our apartment complex parking lot and he slipped on the ice and dropped her on her forehead. she was only 7 months old! i was walking behind them and i had to see the whole thing! i was hysterically crying, although she seemed fine and i floored the car to the ER. all she had was a big black goose-egg knot and i was so thankful. she had been wearing a hat that my friend had knitted for her and it had an extra thick brim. i am convinced that the hat saved her and i still have the hat and will keep it forever as a good-luck charm! LOL just don't blame yourself. the saying is right, kids truly are like rubberbands and the little guy will bounce right back in no time. :)

Thoughts and prayers go with you, but don't blame yourself...no one, EVER can figure out what a kid is going to do and you can't watch them every moment...with our first, she was able to rub rouge all over her body, making herself look like a Native Amercian, and then dump Mom's purse over the balconey. In split second time.
Baby brother fell down a hay hole in the barn and broke his leg..couldn't let go of the hay bale and did it right in front of me..
oh, and three kids in my grade three class pierced their lips with their teeth...they all look okay now, and one of them turned into a beautiful woman...(yeah, three...maybe it's the lead in the water or something that makes us spazzes...)
I'm very sorry you had to go through that and see and feel that and you have my sympathies.
Future events such as these will effect you in the future

HH, don't blame yourself. Toddlers are notorious for getting into pickles right in front of our eyes. I hope Michael gets better and that you quit beating yourself up over this. The little guy will be just fine...hang in there and know we'll all be pulling for you. I'm so sorry about your aunt. {{{{{hugs from LawP to HH}}}}}}

Twice I fell off my tricycle and had to have stitches to my face. The doctor sewing me up was my father, so my tearful pleas not to do it fell on deaf ears. I survived. Your son will too.

And remember, the deciduous teeth (baby teeth) all fall out eventually.

sorry to hear that hh. but your son will be alright. i had a similar iexperience at that age. i was playing by the coffee table, fell, and split my nose right down the middle. according to my mother you could literally pull the sides apart. had to have plastic surgery to fix it up. thank god i don't remember any of it and neither will your boy. like i said, he'll be fine. and i'm sorry to hear about your aunt. what is it about this yr and family members passing?

When it rains, it pours.
So sorry to hear about the accident and about your aunt. While your son might learn from the experience. If not, you might remind him of the stitches, the next time he's off doing something he's not supposed to. Ahhhh! The terrible twos. Hope you survive.

My eldest nephew had climbed into my sister's econoline van, slipped the transmission out of park and into neutral. The van rolled down a very gentle hill, but ran into another car about half a block down. My sister nearly had a heart attack. Minimal damage, and the neph was alright. But just imagine what COULD of happened!

In your son's case, he was quite lucky. Count your blessings that it wasn't worse. I shudder to think of a worse scenario.

The tooth might just work itself loose, as the adult teeth have yet to replace the baby teeth. So maybe if you just wait and see, but I'd find a reliable dentist and ask about it.

Nothing's worse than loosing a much loved family member. I've now lost all four grandparents. The most recent was my grandfather Robert, (Who I was named after.) He lived for 100 years. and passed away in May. Just before his 101 July 4th. birthday. But instead of grieving the loss, I hit upon the notion of what his life has given him. He witnessed a lot over 100 years. Can you imagine?

We can all relate toy your loss, and we grieve with you HH.
Love & Prayers here for you my friend.

I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the well wishes and kind words. You guys are the best. :D I really feel much better and a lot of it has to do with reading all these wonderful sentiments. I must say I'm truly thankful to have all of you in my Halloween.come family.

BTW, Michael woke this morning and was in good spirits and behaving normally. Also the latest word from today's primary pediatrician visit is to wait a week before taking the x-rays and determining if surgery is necessary. The wait is not fun, but I'm taking it as a good sign that at least our pediatrician doesn't think it is that serious.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your Aunt and also your sons unfortunate accident
I am sending you my prayers that everything will be ok. Sometimes things always look darkest before light comes. My friends Nephew had a very similar thing happen to her son when he was 3 it was horrible and they had to even wire his jaw shut... A couple days later he was running around like nothing happened and a couple of weeks you could barely tell it even happened. Hang in there HH!!!

HH, I am really sorry to hear about your Aunt passing away. Were you very close to her? Was this a sudden thing? How old was she?
The passing of a relative is never easy but sometimes talking to friends who are willing to just listen can sometimes have it all make a little sence.

About your boy. No, you can't blame yourself. Boys are natural explorers and no matter how vigilant you are they're GOING to get away from you and they're GOING to get into things.
He will heal. Little boys are pretty resilient that way. He'll forget all about this before long. You just have to be the strong one for him.

When I was three, I bareled through a glass screen door that I thought was unlatched. I had stitches to my right eye and I don't know how many stitches on my right arm in three different places that ran all the way up to my elbow. I still remember it vividly and I still tell the story. I was three and I'd already suffered my first war wounds of boyhood and I was proud!
I remember my Dad sayin, "You be more careful or next time YOU can pay for your stitches."
Now.... I'm not saying to be like THAAAAAAAAT!!!!! But a spot somewhere there in the middle is probably a safe bet.

Just hang in there buddy and keep us posted!
Thoughts and prayers are on the way!
