The skin around the knees started to pucker first.
Then the flesh around the chest and shoulders seemed to melt, hang down and ooze towards the waist.
The Thing was sweating and beginning to look scared.
The Colonel smiled in triumph and didn't see the right fist coming.
The force of the blow drew blood and flung him a good twenty feet.
"You AREN'T supposed to be able to HIT a ghost.." he mused.
The Thing's flesh continued to act like candle wax, slowly running down the interior of the body under the skin and It began to hike as fast as It could to the tunnels.."I WANT THAT CODEX!!!"
Hooch had had enough. She scoped a shoulder fired Stinger rocket launcher from the trunk and took point blank aim at The Thing's chest.
Everyone stared wide eyed. Only Fred was blase..."You can't IMAGINE the stuff you can buy on ebay if you only look..."
Hooch pulled the trigger and a column of smoke roared out the front as a shell hit The Thing squarely in the chest.
The chest suddenly had a hole the size of a fist in the front..and the size of steak plate out the back....the air was filled with black, grey, and green bits of ooze and gunk that were shot out where the spinal column had been a few minutes before.
The Thing turned to come to Hooch, growled and looked like It would bend down to eat her.
She fired again.
The shelll went into It's mouth and The Thing exploded on contact.
"What was IN that????" yelled Mogwai.
"Holy water in a silver canister... kills demons dead..." She sounded just like a RAID commercial.
"Try NOT to breathe the gunk in the air or touch it as it comes down." advised Fred."We don't know what kind of hundred centuries old disease it was trucking around with."

The cats noticed the bright lights first and thought they might be fireflies.
Hooch figured they moved too slowly and was reminded somehow of Tinkerbell from PETER PAN.
It was the dozens of souls TheThing has feasted on and used as raw fuel to keep himself going over the centuries. Now, finally released, a flock rose from the dead carcass and gracefully floated up to the heavens, to meet their fate.
Others assumed the form of fully grown adults...some were content to stay as they remembered themselves to have been.
Colonel Hempstead let his sword fall from his hand as he saw Lottie, his dead aunt cross the field.
She had assumed the form of an adult, maybe 25.
The two hugged and cried.
"Your mother is very proud of you." Lottie told him in a soothing voice."You have liberated my soul. Now, come home with me. Nothing remains here. We have a reunion party waiting for you...and me..do you remember Bessie? The only girl you ever really loved? She is waiting.."
The two started to stroll away, arm in arm..and disappeared into the night.
"Okay, guys...listen up..." Taz announced." We have maybe five mintues left and there are some things for you to know. We got ALL these cats here to help CHANGE the codex now that everything is settled. The demon is dead, and can't come back..and with our mental abilities combined, we can alter it to anything we lilke.
"I think you'll APPROVE of what we've done..we've made it a rough translation of an Edgar Allen Poe mystery...man, will it be FUN..all those scholars trying to figure out how the plot of MURDER IN THE RUE MORGUE was done CENTURIES before...
"Night now.."
******************************

Of course it wasn't REALLY it...Mogwai had done some OTHER THINGS...as Phil discovered on his way home...he was passing Taco Bell and saw cats all over the inside of the place. When he asked what was going on, the counter guy was amused.
" NEVER seen THIS before?? You're missing OUT...Old, old custom here, friend. We feed the cats on Halloween a free beef taco...don't know HOW it started.."
Phil smiled and gave a thumbs up to Mogwai..and bet his shirt that the 'old custom" was not much more then a half hour old, no matter what anybody had been led to think by any feline mind control...
Never mind...the sound of the cat's purring was soothig and echoed out the restaurant into the cool evening.
Egypt never had it so good.

Hi Witchy, you are right. I guess it is too old, must be archived. Too bad.

Wait, I just took I look again, You can see the whole story, you just have to back page a bit. It was pretty long and was written over a period of time with the help of several members. When looking at this thread go to page 1 and start reading.
