DOD I hope things begin to look up for you and your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
HH, I hope things are getting better with Michael. My daughter put her two front teeth through her bottom lip when she was about 1 1/2 - 2 yrs, while we were walking through Target one day. Having to hold them down for the stitches is the absolute WORSE!!! I, like you, was bawling my eyes out. She's not exactly the most graceful person in the world so we've made a few more trips to the ER since then as well. Its just as hard each and every time. She's 7 now and hasn't had to go to the ER in a few years...the best part...she has absolutely no recollection of any of her accidents.
Im also sorry to hear about your aunt. My aunt died 2 days before Thanksgiving and then my uncle (different branches on the family tree) died on Thanksgiving. Its a terrible time of year to lose a loved one. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours.

Hey Dod...just for you, I also asked a friend in Korea to pray for you and send you positive thoughts as well..
For the longest time, he's been the family scandal since he converted to Christianity...the family despairs of EVER getting him married off now..his Mom always wonders why he just didn't become a SCIENTOLOGIST if he wanted to get into a Novelty Cult Religion..So they have these little CONTESTS where she and he pray for the same people and SEE who gets their prayers answered...him with Jesus, or her with her Taoist/Buddha mix..I would send them BOTH the names of everybody and what was bothering them on the board, and he would give Mom SOME of the names but keep some BACK to keep it scientific
..but after I wired him today about YOUR problems, he told me he had fibbed and had been sending Mom all the names because she didn't want to be left out and thought anybody who was on a web page for Halloween deserved all the Gods they could get praying for them..
"Lalloween...dat ees de loliday wid Horis Barloof and Horis was god of Eee gypt..." was what she said to me once over the phone."You ees all clazy.."
I wasn't going to argue about it with her...as it is, she thinks we all work in mines or fish or are Mounties here in Canada anyway...and she knows all about mines from watching Disney's Snow White..
Anway, a long round about way of saying you are in many many peoples thoughts and prayers tonight..and I beleive SOMETING good WILL come of this..

For what it's worth, HH, I went through something similar at about your boy's age, and, aside from acquiring the sort of "eccentric" proclivities I seem to see in abundance around here (and which he may, let's face it, already have inherited anyway, "Headless"), got beyond it with nary a childhood scar. Very resiliant, young humans... And I shouldn't wonder he'll love you all the more long past the day he's old enough to know how hard the event was on both of you.
Still, one does live in a strange Universe, powered by undeniably Mystic Forces, and so, I bend spark and molecule in favorable (and somewhat nostalgic) supplication on your mutual behalf.
(and DOD, posted similar to you elsewhere)
Hope to hear good news.
(ps: Condolences on your Aunt's passing. Do recall, however, that energy only transmutes; it can never be "lost"...)

Thanks to everyone for the kind words and thoughts. Michael is now past it and doing quite well. He is back to his risk taking behavior. Just goes to prove Boys will be Boys.
Although, I do love seeing my 3 year old daughter scolding him, saying " Now you don't do that, you don't want to go to the Hospital, my mommy and daddy love you and don't want you to get hurt." He in turn just looks at her with an expression that says "Whatever" and goes about his business....Just cracks me up.

Because once you cross that bridge, my friend, the ghost is through, his power ends.

AH YES, the constant need of Older Sisters to ride herd on Baby Brothers..my Baby Brother loved to chew on Deadly Nightshade. dug the way the juice from the berries with it's sour/bitter taste made him wince.
So one day Older Sister is sitting beside him in the car , sees that he is sleeping and announces in her best Lady Macbeth voice that "Baby Brother has PASSED OUT from EATING TOO MUCH nightshade" and smartly smacks him across his face...Baby Brother wakes up and demands to know WHY he was whacked and she tells him she had;'just saved his life'.
'Oh..." he said.
Later he said he hadn't even EATEN the nightshade that day...
"Better safe then sorry..." Was Big Sisters reply.
Maybe the nice Korean mother was right about Canadian Older Sisters at least...

i love that uncletor...cracks me up!
my daughter is the older of the two kids and she is constantly playing mother-hen to her little brother. she's 4 years older than him so she REALLY thinks she knows best for him! haha! I've actually had to get onto her a little lately cause she's been getting a little too big for her britches. ah kids...they are really amusing
