HALLOWEEN SERIES

Post by MyersFan1 » Sat Aug 09, 2008 5:03 pm

Hey there,

Is anyone a fan of the classic Halloween films? Obviously by seeing my name and avatar everyone can probably see that I am a HUGE fan of the Halloween Series and nothing gets me more in the Halloween spirit than watching these movies.

If you are a fan please tell your favorite one and why.

I definitely like John Carpenter's classic Halloween the best! 8) :D

Rob Zombie's Halloween is somewhat OK - but I still like it thru... Just because of graphic violence, blood, and nudity in it! Well, it has too graphic in RZ's film than JC's Halloween!

So, I only liked RZ's House of 1000 Corpses as well as The Devil's Rejects! ;)

The original Halloween is by far the best. Classic does not describe it.

The original is of course my fave as well. The opening credits still give me chills when I watch it. The suspense and fear the movie puts in you without hardly showing any blood is what I love. That's what horror movies should be. Horror nowadays is dumbed down. The more blood and guts and torture the better.

I'm also a fan of part 3. If you look at it as a stand alone movie and not part of the Halloween franchise, it's pretty good.

Halloween 2 has a special spot in mah heart. I love it. No mention of H20? That was pretty good!
The dark night beckons. Bear us your soul, it whispers. Expose your wicked delights. Join the rest of us on the wind. The dark night beckons and we answer. Sailing into the shadows.

I agree with you about the movie being suspense and fear and not too much gore, that's what I love about it. I agree that horror nowadays is nothing like that and it's sucks because I'm not a big fan of just plain gore.

I didn't like Rob Zombie's remake. I saw that as a waste of 20$ at the theatre, and i even left about 45 minutes into it. He had a wonderful opportunity to use today's special effects and new filming methods and i feel like he blew his opportunity by filling the movie with nothing but vulgar and gory content. I don't understand how Rob couldn't see that what made the original such a hit was the suspense and mystery not the blood and gore.

The original was definitely the best, no doubt there.

Let me tell you something... Last year on Friday, August 31 my friend and I went to see RZ's HALLOWEEN at the theater, we didn't leave there. We stayed and watched the movie completely. It was OK, but when it came to DVD in December, it has Unrated version, so I rented it! What I saw everything on DVD that didn't show in the theater! Some of the scenes have been cut!
