Swine Flu

Post by Rising Dead Man » Sun Apr 26, 2009 4:03 pm

It's been spreading around. Fortunately, it is not too fatal here in the US. I think. I have not heard or read anything about it hitting here in Vermont yet. But let me tell ya. I'm PARANOID about these things!

It is North of Vermont, it is in Cananda now. A person cant stress about these things. You gotta embrace life, but be ready for death.
The dark night beckons. Bear us your soul, it whispers. Expose your wicked delights. Join the rest of us on the wind. The dark night beckons and we answer. Sailing into the shadows.

I was hearing about it hitting San Antonio Texas, but I have not heard of any outbreaks here in Illinois. I suppose anhything's possible, and that it could spread all over the world, but I agree. Live life to the fullest, but be prepared to go before your maker.

I'm still not sure if we should be worried or not. The whole thing just wreaks of fear mongering to me. It's all over the news.

I read that at least 250,000 to 500,000 thousand people die every year just from the seasonal flu. So at this point I don't see what the big deal is about, unless the virus mutates and gets way stronger. Thing is though this virus attacks people with stronger immune systems and somehow uses your immune system against you

I went ahead and got some n95 facemasks :) They could come in handy for a number of things. Wash your hands a lot!

It's kind of worried me as well. I have a strong immune system but I wouldn't want to risk anything.
It came from Mexico right? I heard it was in New York City as well.

Wait a sec. It attacks people with strong immune systems? Eek!
I thought that was kind of what AIDS did...well....AIDS destroys the immune system and uses it to manufacture more of the HIV virus...I don't know that much about Swine flu.
... I should know. I had to study the chapter for Human Biology.
This probably seems crazy, crazy, a graveyard theory,
A ghost tried to approach me and got leery.
Ask him a question and he vanished in a second...

I'm taking a friend in for some out-patient surgery on wednesday.

You wouldn't be surprised if I told you I'm spending as little time as nescessary in the building when I drop him off and picking him up.

I think I'm going to watch The Stand tonight...

How about I Am Legend with Will Smith? That was pretty good.

Hope you and him are OK during a time like this. They say a hot shower after entering germy places can help prevent the disease.

Here are good tips.

http://www.ehow.com/how_4934081_prevent-swine-flu.html

http://www.ehow.com/how_4933954_attempt ... e-flu.html

I suggest you read everything. And read other pages about Swine Flu on that website. Even if a page looks the same as the other. Keep reading. It will say something else. We want to be as protected as possible. Sorry if it seems like I'm overreacting but I just really want everyone on here to be OK.

People say a lot of things on here. it will be useful.

Ahhh! Panic!

... *sigh*

This is all the result of the 1918 pandemic. People are deathly afraid of an N1H1 pandemic because of the similar flu that killed thousands in 1918... N1H1 is avian flu, not swine flu. In any case, since pigs are closest to humans genetically... it makes sense... but I'm more worried about an outbreak of smallpox than I am of swine flu-- and I'm only an hour from the Mexican border. Those magic shots are likely preventative to the N1H1... which wouldn't do this up-and-coming "plague" (in quotes because I don't believe it will go far in the states) any damage at all. I think people are panicky because they've been preparing for the N1H1 to hit... and now... *gasp* swine flu!

Besides... you die, you die. Chances are, here by the border, we'd be drowning in illegals with swine flu so going to the hospital would be an exercise in futility anyway...

Bah! Bah, I say!

When my house-mates came back from Peru after New Years they brought me a big dose of a naaaaaasty disease.

None of us were well until Valentines day, so it can come from any source, any time.

You shouldn't worry about things you have no control over, just keep washing your hands, don't talk to strangers and, don't stare into the sun.

I just read on the news:

Swine Flu a huge world pandemic. The first in 41 years.

Like Nostialgascape said: The news will be forever ridiculous.

i live in england, and my daughter's class has had one child affected by swine flu, she has recovered and is well again.
the school sends a letter out that discusses whether anyone else is at risk. but they chose to keep the school open it has 880 pupils.
the only people given the antivral drugs were the kids that boarded her bus as they were in a contained space.
whether the winter months there will be more people affected, will wait and see.
not sure if it is the same in the usa, but im sure the government uses these outbreaks to take the news away from the credit crunch, money problems etc, as people worry more about their health.
not long to halloween, i did come on for some new ideas for decorating, but get miffed off with having to trawl through old posts. could do with creating new for 2009 somehow.

Ugh, this Swine Flu thing has caused so much racism and descrimination towards us Mexicans. Everybody's making fun saying "oh don't infect me with swine flu" and stupid stuff like that. I try to ignore it but it was everywhere. "clenches fists"
