I found out it does have sounds. Didn't realise the off on switch was a volume switch too.

Yes!
The Dollar Tree finally put some Halloween stuff out.
It's not much, but the important thing is how nice it was to see this stuff on display.

Re: Make any Halloween purchases yet?
Whenever I can find a silly little ceramic ghost or ghoul, witch or haunted house, or some plastic skeleton, or really anything, I pick it up. I haven't been able to find much, but I have decided to bring out some of my decorations already, like my severed head named Edgar, and a two-foot rubber-n-stuffing Count Dracula which hangs on my basement door.

I bought a styrofoam skull last weekend (not full size) I am going to cut him in half so that I can glue his face to one of my headstones. I have some michaels/ac moore coupons so I am going to go looking for more today......

Re: Make any Halloween purchases yet?
since last halloween, i've bought several dvds - movies, tv programs, documentaries, and cartoons - adding to my halloween marathon for this year:
documentaries:
haunted history of halloween
new orleans haunted history tours dvd
vampire secrets
salem witch trials
hauntings
poltergeist
american scary
his name was jason
tv programs and cartoons:
it's the great pumpkin, charlie brown!
fat albert's halloween special
roseanne halloween specials dvd (compilation)
movies:
transylvania 6-5000
monstersquad
love at first bite
big 3 universal monsters: drac, frank, wolf
queen of the damned
van helsing
hammer horror series (compilation)
30 days of night
texas chainsaw massacre (original)
friday 13th part 3
of course, i won't watch all of these in october. i do have many other movies and programs that i watch each year. so, it's all about creating a schedule with a good flow that leads through the month and into the holiday. many of these purchases were all about freeing me up so that i'm not depedent on tv schedules. this year, however, because i will be extremely busy, i may begin my marathon in september. this is the highlight of my halloween each year. i was inspired to begin doing it by amc's monsterfest, which used to be pretty good but has become terrible the last few years (even changed its title to fearfest)

Re: Make any Halloween purchases yet?
I actually just purchased a large reaper prop to watch over my pumpkin patch from LTD the other day. 5 foot tall for just 20 bucks. I really would love to find an inexpensive barrel scare, but that is hard to find for under $500. I'm defently looking into getting a fog machine, a moving "possessed" portrait, and a psycho themed shower curtain from www.buycostumes.com I also plan on picking up a little something to scare the trick or treaters, www.hallowindow.com/ Can't wait till the stores open! we usually get Spirit, and Halloween USA.
Re: Make any Halloween purchases yet?
I bought a bunch of little items from The Dollar Tree yesterday. Just couldn't resist. I also got the History Channels documentary, The Haunted History of Halloween. I've seen it before, but it's definitely something worth purchasing.

Re: Make any Halloween purchases yet?
hey samhain, did u find the dvd @ dollar tree? i agree - it's a great buy and a must watch each season! history channel used to show it more often, but were stingy last year, only showing it like 3 times on halloween eve and on the holiday... and if you couldn't watch it when they aired it, you were screwed until next year... i was absolutely ecstatic when i found it one day by chance at best buy... it was in a history channel pack with other horror related dvds
anyway, last year during october i was doing political canvassing in queens in the run-up to the november election, and it was so awesome walking in the neighborhoods in the evening, checking out all of the cool window displays (queens rocks for that stuff), enjoying the cool autumn air... it was magical

I took my usual trip to Michaels last month (when summer really starts to get to me) and bought a little sign for my kitchen. "Eat, Drink, and Be Scary"
“Come let us meet, with charm and spell, by magic arts our fates to tell.â€Â

Re: Make any Halloween purchases yet?
I had a little windfall this last weekend. A neighbor down the street has slowly been liquidating her stock from a sort of Hallmark like store. I have bought xmas and halloween stuff before, but this time she had two big bins out with halloween/fall stuff. I bought both of them for $35. Most of the items in there were priced $9-$20 (all new stuff - tags still on it), so I was happy!

Re: Make any Halloween purchases yet?
Nah, I had to order it online. It only cost me about seven bucks, though.hippieluvn wrote:hey samhain, did u find the dvd @ dollar tree? i agree - it's a great buy and a must watch each season! history channel used to show it more often, but were stingy last year, only showing it like 3 times on halloween eve and on the holiday... and if you couldn't watch it when they aired it, you were screwed until next year... i was absolutely ecstatic when i found it one day by chance at best buy... it was in a history channel pack with other horror related dvds
It's more than worth it.
The Dollar Tree mainly has knicknacks, but it's not bad stuff.

Re: Make any Halloween purchases yet?
Okay, at Dollar Tree just got myself a faux wooden sign that reads "Deadend Cemetery" in eerie script, a tiny snowglobe bedecked with pumpkins and ghosts, a skeleton garland, a six-inch ceramic (maybe not ceramic) tombstone with a cloaked ghoul attached to it, and a slightly-smaller-than-human plastic skull.
And I am freaking ecstatic!
And I am freaking ecstatic!

I saw some cool stuff at Basketville.
Halloween wraps fear in innocence,
As though it were a slightly sour sweet.
Let terror, then, be turned into a treat...
