Didn't the husband do a GREAT job on the fence? Next year we need some life-size props, lighting, and lose the blow-up. (at least put him some place else)

I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's. His hair was perfect.

Yes. Have the Captain post his fence recipe. I had kids trample the hell out of my tombstones. It was like the parents were saying, "You really worked hard and put lots of time and money into this . . . cool if my kids destroy it?" So a fence is definitely in order next year. I also had to institute a "No Flashlight" policy, it just killed the effect. I told kids and their parents that flashlights "angered restless spirits."
Nice yard, Hooch.
Laurie stares at the station wagon as it moves past. She looks directly at The Shape inside. There is a quick glimpse of him, a strange pale face staring back.

You're the bomb Hooch! I gotta tell ya, I wish the manufacturers of Halloween tombstones would make them out of something besides styrofoam! Mine kept blowing over and some of the stakes ripped out of the bottom. :( I know there are talented people out there who can make their own, but alas, I'm not one of them. Great job on your haunt and LOVE your little car, a/k/a Magic Pumpkin. I'm thinking of having my little Taurus painted orange! :D

Here's a link to the site where we got directions for the fence:

http://hometown.aol.com/smessin983/Halloween/Fence.html

We modified it a bit, opted to screw the wood onto the side of the PVC pipes instead of drilling all the wood and sliding the pipe through it (you'll see what I mean when you see the inst). But we did use the meaurements and dimensions so that we would know how much pipe and lumber to buy. We did put it up using rebar pounded into the ground, and the PVC fit right over, it was very stable, even in the high wind we had last Sat. Black spray paint and voila! A cemetery fence. Could NOT lay my hands on the skull whistles that he talks about in the inst, but cut the little arrowhead-lookin' finials out of thick black craft foam, and they stuck right in the ends of the PVC pipe. I thought it turned out really well. Glad you liked it. Any questions, let me know.

I so want to use that pic of you in your pumkin car for a wallpaper on my computer. I get all halloween happy when I see it. Hey, it gives me something to shoot for. That car is just a total dream for a kooky weirdo like me. Are you going to leave the jacky lantern faces on the car or save them for Halloween next year?

I used small stones to keep my tombstones from falling over. I put one on either side and it did the trick. It also helped that we have a bit of grass to hide it. No one noticed and they liked it. We made some fencing out of some junk lumber we had in the backyard and it looked like an old graveyard fence. Pics soon..

Hi LittleDollClaudia, good to hear from you. I already took the JOL faces off, and washed the car, 'cause any magnet material will start to wear out the paint after awhile. But I saved 'em, and they'll definitely be used next year. That car has brought me so much joy, I can't tell you. Probably not good for me to be so attached to an inantimate object!

Well you can consider that object as a tool to spread the Halloween spirit and it must make people you drive by smile so that is always a good thing! :D

You know I remember some years ago I was not in the Halloween spirit at all... hadn't even considered it. i was just busy with life and it was a busy time for me. I saw someone drive through and intersection driving the old model VW Bug and the driver was dressed as a witch, complete with pointy had and long warted nose. I just remember it made me smile so big and somehow relieved some of the stress I was having that day. It was a real pick me up that year. I can only assume you do the same for lots of people driving around like that when your new model VW Bug is dressed up.
