Wait, now you're taking my socks too?!
Yeah, just tell the angel of death to look for the dude in the kilt with no socks who's breath smells like haggis.

hahahaaha sorry i meant rock! one too many fins for me last night
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

7 fins down, I like that! I'll probably be well on my way to that later on.

Re: Putting the spirits to rest (post halloween tradition)
If I were a spirit living in a jack o lantern, I'd be angrier at the person who smashed my pumpkin house than I would be if I had to spend a whole year locked up at a nice Georgian house with a giant fireplace. The fellar who smashed my pumpkin house...THAT'S the fellar I'd be haunting.adrian wrote:One tradition i've always went by is that after halloween we "put the spirits to rest." My grandfather taught me this... god i don't know when.. but for me.. halloween is over once you fall asleep (candle lit in jack o lantern/s) then you wake up and the candle/s are out. THAT is the end of HALLOWEEN.
Now we say that the Jack o Lanterns bring hold their own spirit and bring with them others to celebrate the holiday..
so on All Saints Day.. we take the dark faced jack o lanterns to the edge of the woods and smash them... releasing the spirits back to their resting place. if this is not done... the spirits of halloween will be locked at our house for another whole year... the spirits stop celebrating and become angry bc they hadn't moved on. they stick around and not only haunt us but bring us bad luck and mis fortune for a year!
just a little something fun we do as a post halloween tradition while we take down the decorations.

Hmm that does put a different spin on things, but I like the idea of smashing them and setting them free.

lol not if you had to spend a year haunting my house lol you'd feel gypped.. plus i think its a pretty common conception that spirits don't like hanging around anyway lol

The idea of a respectful ceremony makes me feel bad for throwing them over a cliff.
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

Yes, I've heard that Adrian. I am glad they don't hang around, unless it's a fun ghost.
