Dude, I can't tell you how many times I've thought of this with envy. Not to mention, on college football Saturdays, games for you all start at 9am and finish up at a reasonable hour. Then you've got NFL cranking up on Sundays at 10am! This alone is almost enough for me to consider the cross-country move...I'm as much of a football fanatic as a Halloween fanatic. Fall is just so amazing, really ties all my passions together.

Are you from San Diego originally? I've been once. Stayed on Coronado Island and just loved the entire area (as everyone always does).

I saw the small recipe book by Pillsbury at the checkout at the grocery store yesterday. You know the one. It is the one that has all recipes for spider and ghost treats and cakes. I didn't buy it as I don't bake because I don't need that stuff around.

Nah, Ohio originally. Which is why I remember the pain of having to go to school or work the next day after Monday Night Football.

I saw that one as well as one the same size from Gooseberry. I presume Gooseberry will also be releasing a bigger one.

I've seen some stuff at Michael's, but I remember them having more out sooner last year. Hobby Lobby had about two full aisles and some center displays of Halloween then five or six of Christmas. :(

However, I did go to this little gift shop that already had out the Dept. 56 Halloween stuff (or they left it out all year, I'm not sure) and found some cool pieces. My first Halloween of the season. :)

We're the farmer's scarecrows
We scare away the birds,
We keep the farmer's corn safe
Without any words.
But when Halloween comes
We jump out of the ground
And we scare the boys and girls
When they come walking 'round.

I like the crows!

They're one of my favorite Halloween ( actually, year round) symbols.
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

Nice grab Scarecrow. If only the Dept 56 stuff weren't so expensive I'd have the whole collection.

I bought them both, but I haven't yet dug out my similar books from former years to see if they are repetitious. I mean, they are both dated for this season, but lots of those Halloween snacks look similar, you know?

On the plus side, my husband looked through one of them and said he'd like to make a chili recipe he saw. One thing I love about all those books is that they have harvest recipes, too.
