That's a great film! They showed it a couple years ago on TMC and I watched part of it while carving pumpkins. It was fantastic! A lot scarier than the modern remake.

The skeleton Key was a REALLY good movie. I also liked the remake of Hills Have Eyes part 1 for some strange reason.

I've seen somewhere on the forum about that movie "THE SKELETON KEY" the second installment would have made, but not so sure if it will come out as yet. But I will see if I can find the information.
BTW, I will try to find the information about "THE HILLS HAVE EYES" third installment because Wes Craven was talking about it.
Hey Cadaverino

Excellent choices, but two in particular are some of my all-time favorites:
The Return of the Vampire --- Lugosi as vampire Armand Tesla, with a werewolf henchman, rolling fog, graveyards and crypts. It's awesome. Barely over an hour-long, it's a real treat on Halloween.
Curse of the Demon --- such a great, subtle film, it would have stood strong even before the addition of the Demon's scenes.
Two films I'd like to suggest, and both are very short in running time but long in classic horror "feel":
Horror Hotel --- Christopher Lee and a town of witches. Cheaply done, but highly effective.
IT! Terror from Beyond Space --- it's the film said to have inspired "Alien" ... a nifty critter, with a horrendous tongue --- which was actually the actor's CHIN showing through the badly fitting mask! Still, it's a great monster and classic fun.

A good Halloween movie should be Scary Fun. To that end I would highly suggest the best zombie in many years:
SHAUN of the DEAD
with runner-up honors for scary fun going to ...
THE RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD.
Both just happen to be zombie movies. Perhaps my all-time, scary fun movie is:
FRIGHT NIGHT

don't bother renting halloween night. it has got to be, by far, the worst horror movie i have ever seen.
i don't usually suggest to people not to see something ( people should make up their own minds), but really, save yor $5 and 2 hrs of your time. in fact, invest it on a quality flick

I enjoyed After Dark's HorrorFest, "8 Films to Die For" at the theatre last November. Without going into details or possible spoilers, here's how I rank them:
1 - The Grave Dancers
2 - Unrest
3 - The Abandoned
4 - Reincarnation
5 - Dark Ride
6 - Wicked Little Things
7 - Penny Dreadful
8 - The Hamiltons
Without question, TheGrave Dancers was the most enjoyable, thus it's been added to the Halloween Day movie marathon.
Reincarnation has turned out to be one of my favorite Japanese horror movies.
