Re: Good Themes?
hahaha surey lol
i've started collecting old rustic coffe cans and have been cutting eerie looking jack o lantern faces in them.. they'll be hung from trees and impaled by dead limbs stuck into the ground.. also i've come up with something pretty cool to do with pine tree bark if i can keep it together long enough lol

Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

Re: Good Themes?
With the release of "The Wolfman," I bet a lot of people are going to be having a wearwolf theme this Halloween, eventhough it won't be in theatres by Occtober. Then again, some theatres just might re releas it.
Hey, here's an idea. How about a wearwolf, movie character theme. For instance your gursts can come as their favorite movie character, transformed into a wearwolf. I would coe as "The Terminator," transformed into a "Dark Shadows" style wearwolf, if I was to attend such a party.

Hows about the theme of classic Beistle decorations this year? All the ghoulin guys and goblin girls will be thrilled. Your party will be the envy of 1313 Mockingbird Lane.

Re: Good Themes?
one year we did a dracula theme, the house was decorated like an old haunted castle, we had sheets all over the furniture and a coffin with vampire stuff all around, a life size cut out of lugosi and in the back room Dracula was playing on the VCR. It was cool, the next year we did the same thing with Frankenstein, heres a few pics
pics are fuzzy but they are pretty old

Re: Good Themes?
This isn't necessarily related to a halloween-themed party per se, but I'm planning on having a pumpkin carving party for the kiddos.
We went to one some friends of ours did years ago and had a blast.
We've got a heated shop, so I'm hoping to get a bunch of haybales to bring inside, creating a boxed area with a tarp on the ground to hopefully catch most of the pumpkin innards.
I'll rent some halloween movies appropriate for kids and have them playing. Creepy snacks and beverages for the kids and adults and hopefully everyone will have a great time.

Re: Good Themes?
Now that sounds like a really good time for the kids and the adults...wish someone had done something like that when I was a kid. Although mom and dad made carving pumpkins fun with pumpkin pie and caramel apples as well...usually "The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" was on the TV or a Halloween related show...it was magic. Your party will be a blast and those kids will remember that for years and years...that's awesome!!
Good luck to you!!!
Good luck to you!!!

That's a great idea, I have to write it down for later. I've already decided I'll have a Halloween party for my daughter every year until she asks me to stop out of embarrassment.

That's half the fun of being a parent...and our God given right to do so.

Re: Good Themes?
funny you say that, my son is just 13 and in his 8th grade, and NOW he finally gets embarrassed by us, so now I can start having fun with him. He didnt want us to go with him when he got his locker assignment at school, but of course we did and he walked WAY ahead of us and kept saying "you dont have to come".......lolMidnite Shadow wrote:That's half the fun of being a parent...and our God given right to do so.

I'm not going to do that at least not on purpose.

She's 3.
If she's nasty to me as a teen though, she can forget about my consideration.

"Nasty" and "teen" are synonyms.
And yes, iHaunt, I think we can all guess what the results would look like if you put both of those words into a internet search engine.
I think my theme this year, in honor of The Walking Dead, will be zombies. I always have zombies in my graveyard, but I really want to step it up and have a big, bloody, zombie scene as the centerpiece.
Re: Good Themes?
We had our first Halloween party last year with no real theme.
This year we are going with a "Killer or Victim" theme and it's totally up to the guest...vampire or vampire victim, Jason or camp counselor victim, a mobster (no blood and gore but def. a killer). I can't wait to see what people come up with.
We had our first kids Halloween party last year too.
We played a few games at each and both went over very well.

I don't think my oldest could get embarrassed...she loves it as much as me.
I wish I had've started earlier but there always used to be parties at the local community centers or carving parties at other family/friends houses.
