Not trying to hijack the thread, but do y'all think MOST people who fancy themselves Dracula fans, know how Dracula died in the Bram Stoker novel? A few years ago I was at a party of about 50 people and they were your so called intellectual crowd, and not a one had actually read the book or knew how he died.

It would be kind of funny for people to spend all that money to go on a Dracula tour, but not even know how he finally bought the farm.
Doesn't Van Helsing decapitate him? I read the book when I was 12 and not since, so I could be fuzzy on the details (especially after seeing so many movie & TV adaptations). We recently acquired the original novel, and I have been thinking about reading it again.

I do recall that it was the first epistolary novel I ever read, and that form seemed weird to me when I was 12.

Not Van Helsing. But I won't give away the ending here.

Well, if that party wasn't enough, most of the people here in the countryside (meaning quite possible those near the castles with the aforementioned legend) hardly ever read, not to mention reading Dracula. So you'd find even fewer people knowing the ending here.
As for the documentary, most of the movies Castel Films produces here for export in the US or Western Europe are in...well..castles. Or woods. A less-known one but which was quite heavily filmed with romanian extras and near Bucharest is Princess of Thieves, with Keira Knightly (in the early stages of her career). I know a guy who played in that movie.
Also, Borat was taped here. But I'm moving away from the topic.

I know the American Civil War movie Cold Mountain was filmed in Romania. I think An American Haunting, about the Bell Witch, was also filmed there. I have heard that the Romanian countryside looks more like the American South in the 19th century than the actual South does, now.

Here's a list of films that were at least partially shot in Romania. IMDB rules!

Like I said, the only two things keeping me from booking one of those "Dracula" tours are the expenses involved, because I'm a little short utnil I get at least one of my vehicles paid off, and I am very unhappy with the way comercial airlines treat their customeers.

If there was a way to get to Romania by motorcycle, I would go in a New York minute.

Mike.

Me too Morticia. First thing I do when I get home from a movie is surf on over to IMDB and check out the trivia.

Hey guys!
I'm here since it just struck me that it's finnally autumn! I can't believe it it's September already! Also, 2 weeks to go 'till my birthday.
At lass, it is pumpkin time!
Meanwhile, since I've been apart, I went with my boyfriend's family to visit the Transfagarasan, a road that crosses the Fagaras mountains. And guess what I went past! Right, the Poenari castle, that we just discussed of. Unfortunately, people weren't in the mood to climb up to it, and frankly, I was being carsick as hell so not exactly on my best behaviour either. Nevertheless, I impressed with my knowledge of the castle (that I just got from you guys a week ago!)
Today I'm planning to go read in the park and fully get my "autumn groove" on! What about you guys?
off-topic: people at my college have resits this whole month. I don't. School also happens to start on the 17th of September this year, again (my b'day is on the 17th), but this year since I'm in college I don't have to worry about school 'till the 1st of October. You can imagine the full-on blast of energy this news is giving me.

Draculaura, I just found out about this book. Thinking of ordering it. And I'm curious, where are the pictures of all these awesome sights in your country? Are you holding out on us?
