Red Rose
I watched this for the first time last night & really enjoyed it! I thought it was really suspenseful & eerie. I love the feeling I get when watching things like this as it gives me the chills. I can't compare it to the book as i've never read it, so I now intend to buy it.
What are people's thoughts? Have any of you ever read the book?

Re: Red Rose
Just to be sure, are you referring to the mini-series based on the Stephen King story? I believe it's called Rose Red. That's what I'll be commenting on. If you're referring to something else, I'm terribly sorry and please just disregard what I'm saying.
I haven't read the book, but I really liked the mini-series. The only thing that bothered me is that even though they're aware the house is haunted and randomly rearranges itself, they still split up. Now it doesn't bother me so much when the characters don't have anyway to know better, but they're all psychics. They should know better. Still, a minor quibble, really. I did like it.

We're the farmer's scarecrows
We scare away the birds,
We keep the farmer's corn safe
Without any words.
But when Halloween comes
We jump out of the ground
And we scare the boys and girls
When they come walking 'round.
We scare away the birds,
We keep the farmer's corn safe
Without any words.
But when Halloween comes
We jump out of the ground
And we scare the boys and girls
When they come walking 'round.

Yes I did mean Rose Red. I keep on saying it the other way round! Feeling like an idiot now!ScarecrowJack wrote:Just to be sure, are you referring to the mini-series based on the Stephen King story? I know what you mean about them splitting up. I couldn't believe they let the older lady go off on her own to get ice tea!

Don't worry about it, I switch things around all the time. I believe there's a fairy tail character by Red Rose, and I wanted to make sure you weren't referring to a horror adaptation of a fairy tail. I understand the version of Snow White where Sigourney Weaver plays the wicked queen/old hag is amazing. I haven't seen it, so I couldn't say.
Seriously! They're in a house that's killing people, and she decides to get tea! Either go as a group or go thirsty. And then, they leave the woman tied up in the kitchen all alone. They practically gift wrapped her for the house.

Re: Red Rose
I've never read Rose Red, but the film is incredible. Bar none one of my favorite Ghost flicks of all time. It truly captures the fear and excitement of a real haunted house.

Excellent book and film. I really enjoyed both.

Think i'm gunna have to get the book then.Belladonna wrote:Excellent book and film. I really enjoyed both.
I know you said "excellent book & film," but did you slightly prefer one over the other?
I only borrowed the film so will buy that too. They've marked it up considerably over here in England though. I'm guessing it's hard to get hold of on region 2 & that's why they've increased the price?

I'm curious as well about the book. Is it really as good as the movie?

Give yourself plenty of time to watch it as it's about 4 hours long. When it first came out I believe it was shown as a two part TV mini-series.
Hope you enjoy it when you watch it & let us know what you thought of it.
