Let Me In (2010)

Post by Castle » Mon Sep 05, 2011 4:50 pm

Just watched this last night. Not particularly scary, more of a horror/drama than anything. But Chloe is an amazing actress, she nailed her part. Have yall seen it?

If it's the same movie I'm thinking of, I haven't, but I've been told I should see it. So it's definitely worth a watch then?

I have and then promptly went out and bought it on Blu-ray. I have only watched it once. It stayed with me long after.

I am 41 which would means I was 14 in 1983, while Owen is 12. My parents got divorced when I was younger than Owen is in the movie. I was also bullied and picked on when I was younger. So there are a lot of things that I can relate to in this movie. The other thing that really drew me in, is the relationship between Owen and Abby

It was okay. I prefer the original one "Let The Right One In". :)

You beat me to it. I also thought the original was better.

OK, I'm confused about these titles. I bought a DVD called "Let the Right One In," but I mislaid it and haven't watched it yet. Now I'm seeing a DVD called "Let Me In," which appears to be the same story. Did I screw up and buy something with subtitles?

OK, thanks for the explanation. It is the same story, but I got the original, foreign version, I guess.

I watched 'Let Me In' earlier today. I thought it was really good & I'll be buying it on Blu-ray. As Castle said, Chloe was amazing!

I'm gunna get hold of 'Let The Right One In' now, especially as people have said it's better! It was made in Sweden.

I haven't seen either, but I've owned the Swedish language one for a couple of months. I keep trying to figure out when the best time would be to watch it.

My older son (22) saw Let Me In a few weeks ago and said it was very creepy. I gather it got to him.

OK, so my husband and I finally watched Let the Right One In yesterday. Our DVD had the option for subtitles or English dubbing, and we chose dubbing, which was only mildly distracting. less so than I imagine the subtitles would have been.

Our reaction was that the movie was interesting but not at all scary. It was more of a romance than anything else. We even joked that it was sort of a Swedish Twilight, only better.

Now I am curious to see the American version. Much of the atmosphere seemed to me to be drawn from the Nordic winterscapes, and we don't have anything exactly like that here, certainly not around our cities.

The vampire girl wasn't nearly as scary to me as the bullying boys at school. We wondered if perhaps that was the point--that human beings are (or can be) more monstrous than the "monsters" we imagine and stigmatize.

Does anyone know why it was set during the Brezhnev era?

Hippie,

I recommend Let The Right One In the best than Let Me In. ;) See yourself! :D
