Thanks for that link! That was quite interesting, actually. I was one of those little girls who could freak herself out with her own dolls. And my own daughter could never bear to have "baby dolls," only Barbies, which were miniatures, and stuffed animals.
I was intrigued by that definition of "the uncanny"--something that is human-like, but not quite human. In addition to finding dolls creepy, I have never been able to abide monkeys, either. My least favorite animals. Not cute at all to me, just creepy. I wonder if it's the same reaction--human-like, but not quite human?
